Me too, thats how I got my unique SSN number too.

A shitload of people would be in trouble if the SS Administration ever went back into its records and tried to re-validate all of the legitimate SSNs. Thank god that an SSN doesn't have to be renewed.

I also have a SSN from an earlier case but it doesn't really matter as they're clearly marked with the familiar text. So I don't think it makes a difference if they go back to check it, ours were legally obtained and are OUR unique numbers. Same goes for all the ITIN holders.

My SSN is in MY name and it links to MY Social Security fund and MY money that I put in there. If I'm unable to collect MY Social Security benefits one day at least I'll be able to curse the hell out of ALIPAC for stealing MY money (which they are right now since I'm also a taxpayer).

When you're legalized it is a very good idea to have those social security numbers re-validated if they say "NOT VALID FOR EMPLOYMENT" since the first thing an employer always ask for is your SS number so you don't have to carry around your work permit or green card.

Anyway,When I had went to the SS office about 2 months ago they don't appear to accept approval notices only EADs,Green cards & work authorized visas.They also don't appear to issue SS numbers to those who are NOT authorized to work in the country,even if you have a valid I-94 or are legally inside the country so unless you've been given work authorization from USCIS it isn't worth the risk.It was certainly an interesting experience I hope everyone who doesn't have an SS yet gets to experience,aka the normal factor.

You can get a drivers license with a valid i94, at least in CA, I'm not sure where you are from
