Ooh, I wasn't aware I could do this and that would probably make me less nervous at the Chicago airports. I had it renewed in 2005, so I'm not sure if I'd be exchanging it too soon. Would this be handled by the Polish consulate?

^Yeah the Polish consulate does it but there's a wait because they are printed in Europe and you know how slow things there are.

Since 2006 a new design has come out. It's burgundy with the white eagle and "Rzeczpospolita Polska" and "Unia Europejska" on top and "passport" three languages on the bottom. It also has the biometric chip like the newest passports.

It's a couple hundred dollars to replace it though and you'd have to say you lost your old one before they'd issue you a new one (which carries a fine) so think about that first.

Hey guys. I read through all of these pages and no one really mentions much about LAX.

I was first planning to take the Amtrak to go visit my friends in Tenessee, but decided to look into flights. The flights are cheaper AND faster, so I want to look into taking the plane instead.

I only have my Mexican consulate I.D. card, and a few other photo I.D.'s (old high school I.D., photo I.D. from Bally's gym, and so on.) I'm curious to know if I should go get my Mexican passport as well. I know they require TWO forms of I.D. so if I bust out with my Mexican passport AND my consular I.D., would it be a bit too odd? Maybe I should only use one piece of foreign I.D. and try to get another one as well? Or would the passport only work?

Also, anyone know about traveling from LAX to Tenessee or somewhere similar? There are stops to connecting flights at DALLAS, TEXAS, is that stop risky?

So I would be traving from Los Angeles Intl. to Memphis, Tenessee...

As much valid information as everyone has would be good.

Thanks!

In 2003 I stopped at Dallas for a connecting and as I recall, there was nothing out of the ordinary back then.

I'll be flying out from Cali to Philly for spring break, nothing like seeing a tour about old dead white men. Should be fun though, right Emma?
right, and stop using my real name on the forum already... fool!

VJB2, get a passport. I think most people would agree that beats a consular ID in terms of making it through.

Thanks! Anyone gone to the Mexican consulate to get their passport here in Los Angeles? How was your experience?

Legally you can go through TSA security without any form of ID if you are under 18. If you look like you are younger than 18, no one will bother to ask for an ID, and if they do, you can simply say "i'm only 16 sir" and go through. Unless you look older than 18 for sure, no one will question you any further.

BTW I don't understand people saying "oh it's not safe to fly, take train." This is totally wrong. These days, for an undocumented alien, it's much safer to fly than take train.

Who's saying that the ground transportation is safer? Please point it out so we can put a stop to it.

Regardless of age, it's been proven that there are risks involved with flying even with a valid foreign passport.
