back-story; So, my cousin in So Cal, had gotten a job sponsorship, 6-7 mos. after her visa expired. She came here (u.s.), with a BSN, nursing, but she just needed to take re-take the N-Clex exam. I guess her lawyer found a loophole or whatever and within 2-3 mos. of passing the exam she got a green card. She doesn't know how they did it, but she got a job sponsorship and is now a perm. resident.

*my dilemma; I want to be a nurse as well.an LPN degree is 1 yr. its cheaper and I could maybe get a sponsorship faster. (i don't know what rules they got, for ppl who have had their visas expired for more than 10 yrs) although if i go to school for the RN degree, its a 2 yr degree, and i would fall under the dream act, provisions. of a 2yr degree. Like we all say, do what you can now. I don't have money to get my RN degree, so would it be smart to get an LPN degree, then go back for my Rn degree? or do the RN program slowly, b/c maybe within 2 yrs. the dream act passes..or take my chances as an LPN, and hopefully get some kind of sponsorship?

Ed, I heard the same thing, my mom knows someone who became a LPN (licensed pratical nurse) and got sponsor from a hospital, An LPN usually has to work under the direction of an RN.They have a limited scope of practice and the medications they are allowed to administer is also limited.

I been thinking of changing my career and become a nurse only for that reason to get sponsor by a hospital.
I would assume that you would have to be under the 245I, to be able to get sponsor. I still have to find out more on details on regarding this. If you know anything please let me know.
