Did a Big 4 internship this past summer and left with a full-time offer for next fall. Went through HR with flying colors; nobody asked any questions. I didn't say anything about sponsorship.

PM me if anybody has any questions; I'm down to get more candid there.

Hi guys! How did you end up working for CPA firms? I would really like to do that but having no experience or internships, I'm finding it impossible. Right now, I have a job with a company in a different industry as an accounting assistant, but that's not what I want to do. I really want to go into public accounting so I'm thinking of taking the CPA or going to grad school in the very near future. I'm just not sure if I would need public accounting experience to take the CPA. Does anyone know?

You do not need experience in accounting in order to SIT FOR the CPA Exam. However, you will need if, most likely two years of experience, for LICENSURE. In order to sit for the exam, all you need is a bachelors degree and a certain number of credits in business and accounting. Each state have slightly different requirements but for the most part they're very similar. Go to this website. It will give you full details:

http://www.becker.com/cpa-review/res...m/requirements

Also, keep in mind now you will need 150 credit hours in order to get the CPA LICENSE. But you can still sit for the exam with 120 (in most cases you can graduate with this number of credits). But the point here is..you can go ahead and apply to start taking the CPA exam. Definitely do it as soon as you can...That exam is not tough..IF you put in time. Otherwise..it is impossible to pass it. Good luck.

I'm at a small manufacturing company right now and my goal is to do management accounting at a mid-big sized company. I'd still need a CPA and some experience in public accounting for that though unless I have a really good network, right? I want to make the best out of the two years I have (sure, we can renew, but you never know). Should I just do one year at this small company and then try for a mid size firm? Then again, I'm still working on my Bachelor's.

Bump. I just passed my Audit exam. That brings my CPA tally to 2 passed sections (BEC and Audit). Regulation and FAR will get ugly! If anyone on here needs advice especially with Audit, definitely hit me up! Roger CPA is very good in my opinion. I also have some extra 2013 books if anyone wants. Some rules may have changed but I strongly think most of the material is the same.

I'm planning on taking the Audit exam. I've been preparing but I found it hard because so many things to consider especially in the Planning part. How was the exam? Any tips? What should I focus on?

Has anybody gotten closer to getting their license? I'm curious if we're going to run into speed bumps in that process because we only have DACA.

Are we going to have the same problems as law school grads who pass the bar but can't practice?

Evening. I don't think we will have problems when it comes to licensure. That's one of the positives of the CPA credential. Regardless, I'm pretty sure it will take time to become a CPA so we should be focused towards passing the exams and getting the work experience. I will be sitting for my REGULATION for second time in just less than two weeks away. If I prevail, that will put me just one section (FARS) shy of completing the Uniform CPA exam. Hope your studies are going good as well. If anyone would like to share/exchange ideas, feel free to PM me! I've sat for the exam eight times and know the procedure inside out..
