A few people have already heard a response to their Service Request, and it basically validates what I said, to wait.

Ooh thanks for the info. Truly appreciate it.

Hmmm... I doubt it. All of the documents you submit are scanned into the system. I don't know about the Biometrics.

The letter I got last week says they're doing an "additional review" on my case and that it would take up to 6 months from the letter, meaning 9 months total. I researched it and it is basically a standard response USCIS sends when they don't know what the fuck they're doin or have lost files, biometrics, or the case is stuck on background check. The worst part is that once it gets on "additional review" it usually stays that way for a very long time - months or even years after the normal processing times. And for no apparent reason. If you take a quick read at other people with similar situations.. it is very alarming.

That's what made me send the form to the CIS Ombudsman this morning. I read there's a small chance of success from the Ombudsman intervention. The other option is a writ of mandamus against USCIS.. but that is a last resort and I would have to wait until the 6 months are over.

I don't know if that's the problem with all us August ppl still waiting.. could be just me. So don't panic yet. Just be on top of it. Good luck guys.

california
application: 9/30, received 10/3
biometrics: 11/4
approval: 12/3 ^_^

for the people that got approved, what was in the approval notice? how long till you receive your card? were you able to apply for SS and drivers license before you wait for the actual card to arrive?

I dont understand why there is a need to place a service request when they've clearly stated that the process can take anywhere b/w 4-6 months..I know majority have received a response way before the deadline but that doesnt mean those who r left should start panicking and sending them notices. Its just going to further annoy the officials. Plus there r millions of us who applied and hundred something here on this forum so the approval stats here cannot be a good predictor of approvals or waiting time.

Sometimes you have to think outside the box. There's a difference between expected processing time and actual processing time. That figure, 4-6 months, was given for the entirety of DACA. In other words, it is reasonable for applications that are being sent now and the following months to take 3-4 months or more due to accumulation. That would make perfect sense.

It is not reasonable for anyone with even half a brain to think it is "normal" for their application to be taking close to 4 months without any response (RFE, etc), when the overwhelming majority of cases sent in August have already been processed. And is even less reasonable to receive a letter stating that it would take an additional 6 months (or 9 months total) to process your application when you have met all the requirements and have a clean record and no previous immigration history.

Some ppl on this forum think we are being granted this amazing gift from USCIS and we should be thankful and bow down to them. I don't see it that way. It was a long, overdue, and very limited relief that we have fought hard for and rightfully deserve. So I could care less about annoying them. They're being paid to do their job.
