Don't rely on it. It doesn't even change... youll be surprise to receive your DL and that site still says on processed. Give it a week or alil more than a week weekfrom the day you got your interim permit.

I did my test this morning and the guy failed me because I did not look over my shoulder to make a change lane. now I have to re-take it on Tuesday. Hopefully i don't get the same guy again.

That's like standard procedure.

I think most of the people getting failed are the people who have been driving for awhile. Since you guys have already adopted bad behaviors and are so used to them, it's easy to overlook them.

Hey, guys! I've been away from the forum for a bit now as I focused on finishing the fall semester in college, and work, and all that.

I have some questions regarding the ID/DL procedures in CA. I would appreciate some input or some direction if it has been covered recently.

I received my CA ID at the beginning of the month. It expires in 2018.

My question is: what happens to my ID card if I go in to take the written test next week? Will the employee punch a hole in it making it invalid? Or will they let me keep it unaltered?

The thing is that I want to take the written test and get my driving permit. Then, I'd like to practice for a few months before scheduling my behind-the-wheel test since I'm pretty new to driving right now.

I plan to call in on Monday to verify, but I'd like to hear from anyone who has done the same.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, the web status is completely unreliable. I received my ID on the 5th, and on the 8th, the status changed online saying my card had been sent that day. It was sent January, 3.

Not entirely sure if this was addressed earlier but does the I-797 fulfill the requirement for a DL or do I absolutely need the EAD? Also which usually arrives first? #noobquestion
