I'd appreciate everyone's guidance/opinion.

Live in Cali. Hired a lawyer. She said it was sent to the lockbox in November. She said its at the California Service Center where she's working with an immigration officer with my case since its complicated.

However... I never received email/text notification or letter receipts from the lockbox. I called the 1800 number a couple times and my name is never found when they do a computer search. I sent an inquiry on my money order and it was never cashed.

I'd hate not to trust my lawyer, because she's really nice.

But it's just really strange.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Thats the thing with lawyers, you dont know how or when they send off your packet.

Wjen i got my first letters i called my lawyer and said:

Ugh tell me about it. I thought it woulda been easier with a lawyer but I'm just finding MYSELF figuring out what's going on... if this wasn't my dad's aquaintace I woulda fired them a long time ago. I just don't wanna give my dad drama you know. UGH FML.

I wish mine coulda been communicating like that with me. I'M THE ONE ALWAYS CALLING. And plus I've been dealing with the paralegal this whole time. I've never spoken with the actual attorney since he's always at court or whatnot. But my dad's been knowing the attorney and the paralegal for YEARS which is why I did it with them (my dad paid so ya)

The thing IS... that she said she filed it the first week of November... she's always said "oh just wait...there's a delay....give it 3 weeks...give it 1 week...wait till the end of the month... oh the beginning of next month... oh a couple days...

She said she didn't have the receipt numbers... but that she knew it was at the AZ lockbox and now at the CA service center. And it frustrated me cause ppl on here & on the 1800 number said that I had to have received the receipt no later than 1 month after it got there that it had NOTHING to do with if it was currently being processed.

She said that I'd receive it once it was finished being processed... but im like HUH i thought it was when the receive it? not when its done..

So I'm like okay so you're working on it before you sent it? She's like no i sent it...

So that's the circle I've been going in the last 4 months until TODAY...

----------------

I received two text message from 87247 saying "USCIS: Your case was received. Receipt #LIN1390488XXX. Official Receipt Notice (Form 1-797) to follow in mail. Msg & Data rates may apply. DO NOT REPLY"

Both were identical except for the last two numbers.

Since its LIN that means it's in Nebraska, which is wierd since the paralegal (I know i said lawyer but the one who ive been communicating with is the paralegal) said its at the California Service Center... (I live in Cali)...

I've looked at how the receipts are supposed to look online... and I'm confused...

Does the LOCKBOX send the receipt or the SERVICE CENTER... but AFTER the lockbox receives it???

I'm just really trying to see where the hell my application has been and exactly when it was filed and exactly when it was received since the paralegal has been telling me conflicting information.

My case status isn't up online yet.

Thats the new normal.

The #s are different because you have 2 cases one for daca and 1 for work permit.
It looks like its going fine now and you should receive 2 letters in mail
The next letter (3rd letter will b ur biometric letter.

Yea I just need to work on not stressing.

How long does it take once we get the text to receive the paper receipts like 1 week?

Oh & I spoke to the 1800 today cause I told them about my situation and how I was told to check my money order if I was in doubt it was ever sent out & when I did I received a refund check since it was never cashed. They said I'll receive a notice to just pay. So that's good.

I would assume as much, simply based on the background check having less years of records to sort through. Also, I personally believe a unique name has a lot to do with it. I've got a pretty unique name, I've never known a person in my life who has my name, so I feel as if that is a contributing factor. Each case is different as is each person who looks at and approves each case.
