Going through all these pages is going to take forever :P. What i've gathered so far is that its all random to when your ID/DL expires. I went to the one in San Clemente to get my DL and it expires in 17. Wondering if the validity of the ID will differ from the DL. I didn't get my ID when i got my DL cause i didn't have enough cash. But my EAD was valid for 2 months when i went for my DL and i still got my DL for 4 years. Yeah it was a typographical error from USCIS, but its all fixed now. Anyone else live in southern OC thats tried San Clemente?

People have written here about going to the same DMV together with a sibling or relative, and one person gets a normal expiration date on their ID/DL, and the other person gets a 2-year one.

It seems the validity length of your DL/ID is not dependent on which DMV you go to, but on the employee processing the application. There's probably an option in the computer to set the ID/DL to "Limited Term," and that automatically puts a lower-than-normal expiration date on it.

I have the same question too. When I read thru some info on the dmv website, it said only commercial drivers who had their license expired for more than two years are required to take the exam again. So i am guessing we woulnt have to. We should call up the dmv and just ask. I really hope I dont have to. Waste of my time

You will be retested. If you know how to drive, I don't know what's the problem.

Really? Are you sure?
I just think it is redundant for them to ask me to retake the test when I have passed it before.
