A little details about our case before interview details..
I am an EWI did not clear it through AP. I am a 241i beneficiary through my USC Grandpa
My wife and I have only been married for 7 months and a couple days . We have been in a relationship for almost 4 years. We have Credit cards together and have had for about 2 years and NO joint bank account.
We live in the city of Rowland Heights, CA . Border of LA County and Orange County
INTERVIEW: The interview lasted about 30 minutes, at first I was asked questions about my application like my name, DOB, addresses and wife's name, DOB, and length of relationship. Then was asked my work history, and asked same question to my wife. Never asked full details of how we met or asked why we didn't have joint bank account. Officer was very kind and professional.Towards the end he said he was going to make some copies and that he would be back in a minute. He came back in the room and put a piece a paper in front of me and then notified us that he was approving my Green Card application and shook my hand. I did get the conditional green card due to the length of my marriage but we are more than happy with that.
Hopefully that helps everyone and if anyone has any questions please feel free to ask.
When you say work history what do you mean specifically??? My fiance and I both work and he just knows that I'm in customer service but he don't know the specific place. We don't really talk about w prk that much. Thanks.

The officer asked me first my last 5 years of work history.. I told him what those jobs were and the years and months that I worked there. When you apply, you will have to submit your work history. He basically asked me to verify my job history and then asked my wife who also submitted her work history to verify her own work history submitted in the application.

But Good luck applying. It's seems that you are in a very similar situation that my wife and I were in. Married and applied very early.

Thank you. Will it be bad to tell them about my work history? I only worked at one place. I've been there for years. I was working under the table until DACA. After that, I started paying tax.

Honestly immigration officials only care about your marriage being legit and that you're not planning on defrauding the government for benefits thru marriage.

Thank you very much! Did you guys hire a lawyer?. My fiance wants a lawyer but I think it's costly. What I meant to ask is how much did you pay for the lawyer??

I was covered under 241i, so everything including application fees, lawyer fees and Immigration physical payed about $6,000..
Lawyer was $3,000
Application Fees were $2,490
Immigration physical about $600ish
We got one because with something so important we didn't want to gamble anything but if you do your research you def can go around and do it yourself.
It helps if you have a clean record to do it by yourself.. I have a clean record but I had a decent amount of money saved so I got one just to play it safe..

I just got engaged two days ago! Yay! Anyways, I was wondering what are the steps for adjustment of status? My fiance wants to fix my papers right away. So, we decided to have a small civil wedding with just me and him first and apply for AOS, at the same time planning for a nice wedding with friends and family. I was wondering what are the steps. I looked up some information around and kind of have a gist of it. However, I would like to know what you all did with your AOS packet. We are thinking of hiring a lawyer, but that'll be costly. I know some people who did it themselves. Thanks in advance!
First of all, Congratulations! I believe your fiance is only trying to get the legal jest of the process considering his legal background.

I would suggest doing it with a lawyer also because you have mentioned that it will be a private civil ceremony. Usually, USCIS likes to see wedding photos and ask questions concerning not only the marriage, but also about your spouse's family and if they know about the wedding and will ask for wedding photos. In short, it might be best to use a lawyer to handle your case as you assemble bona-fide evidence for your AOS process.

Your next step will be to start getting copious amounts of evidence that proves you guys are in a bona-fide marriage. That means being joined financially, in residence and that your close ones know about it.

My fellow dreamers,

For my first DACA application in 2012, I translated my own birth certificate from Spanish to English and included a signed document stating I know Spanish. I've read online that many people have submitted their applications with self-translations and had no issues.

I also been told that USCIS does not accept self-translations but I am unsure who is telling the truth. I feel that Translation Services are saying this so they can take our money.

Does anyone know if we can do a self-translation without issues in 2017? Once again, I had no issues back in 2012.

Why were your application fess 2490?

How did your immigration physical come out to be $600? That is excessive unless you had to do more tests.

Sounds about right actually. 245i fee+ Application concurrent fees.

It could be due to the new vaccinations. 2 vaccinations+the fee for the I-693 is about around there.

BTW, self translations are sorta OK. USCIS officially requires them to be translated by an individual who can certify the translation typically, but most simply do self translation.
