Seems to me that younger people get approved much quicker. When I sent my application the packet was really thin and I dreaded to receive an RFE because I had no other evidence left to send. Luckily I was approved and I am now in search of a job.
Yeah I been waiting since Sept 18th . My name is unique also, no criminal history but have had lots of cases in immigration and in deportation proceedings. I am glad you got it tho man! Hopeyou find your job soon!

Im still young I'm 20 years old, I have a clean background, I guess my name is common it's Alexander Rico but every case is different and in my cases the reason they are taking longer is to clear my background checks that they are doing that I'm stuck on. I guess other criminals have the same name as me. They said I had to wait WITHIN 6 months meaning I could hear something next week or 2 weeks for now ect ect. I'm hoping I hear something very very soon! On December 13,2012 I had got an email from them saying they had to do additional review so I replied back to them asking what additional review needs to be performed on my cases the that's why I got this back on my e-request I did Thursday "The status of this service request is:

The processing of your case has been delayed. A check of our records establishes that your case is not yet ready for decision, as the required investigation into your background remains open.

Until the background investigation is completed, we cannot move forward on your case. These background checks are required to be completed on all applicants who apply for the immigration benefit you are seeking. We will make every effort to make a decision on this case as soon as the background checks are complete. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 months of this letter, please contact customer service at the number provided below.

If you have any further questions, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283."

I have a problem. I received the letters of my approval today in the mail, but the bad news is that my last name is spelled wrong on one of the envelopes and it is the one for my EAD. Instead of it being "Cabrera" like it is spelled, they spelled it "Caberera" which is wrong. I do not know why this is since my name on the other envelope is spelled correctly. Do you guys think that is how the name on the card will be? If so, I know this will be a problem. Any advice, suggestions, comments?

I hope everything goes well with my job hunting. As for your case I believe the deportations are what is causing your case to take so long. I had no deportations nor cases with immigration. Just keep positive. Sooner or later you will get a notice from them of your approval and hopefully with an apology letter for the long wait. Just hope for it to be sooner.

On the positive side at least you know the reason why they are taking so long with your case. Others are stressing to know the reason behind them taking so long to approve those in earlier months. Hopefully they will soon realize who you are and that you are in fact within the guidelines to be approved!

Hi all, I'm new to this forum but I have been silently reading everyone's comments on here. I have been waiting for my approval for over 4 months. I know people have been waiting way more than I have been but I'm so ready to start my life. I miss school very much and I think I'm seriously losing my mind so I thought I'd give this a try since everyone understands what it is like to go through this grueling process.

I believe the six month countdown starts from the date of your biometrics... If so people from august that have not received a decision, should get an answer this month of march...Will see soon

It starts when USCIS receives your application. I asked my lawyer about it and that's what he had said.
