also try this http://dacalawyers.com/deferred-action/

"DACA is intended to prevent the deportation of non-priority individuals. This means you can apply for deferred status no matter where you are in the deportation process..."
Thanks for the quick reply and info

Do you know if any member on this forum who has final removal proceeding / deportation order, applied for DACA and got approved?

I just wanted to share my story. I'm a national of the Philippines and both my parents work for the U.N. I was brought here in 2001 at the age of 15. I’m going to be 28 on Friday. I lawfully entered to United States under a L2 visa and later converted it to G4. I'm currently still residing in New Jersey. I graduated high school in 2002 and later from Rutgers University in 2010 with a degree in economics.
After graduating I was told I didn't have proper work authorization but I accepted employment anyway. I was offered employment at a fortune 500 company. With luck, they overlooked my situation and I was able to pass my security licensing exams. I obtained my brokerage licenses (series 7 and 66).

Consciously knowing I wasn't supposed to be working, I willfully left my job in hopes to find another that would sponsor me for a H1-B. Edward Jones and Merrill Lynch both extended me job offers but neither were willing to accept a new hire under the pretenses of a work visa sponsorship. I was even more concerned since companies like these started incorporating E-Verify into their pre-hire screening process.
At this point, I was particularly hopeless and I accepted the fact that If I were to make any money it would have to be under the table. I also had to accept the fact that I had to let my security licenses expire and have all my efforts of studying so hard and graduating college be all for nothing!

On June 15, President Obama initiated an executive order for deferred action.
It took me about another 3/4 months of gathering documents: high school/college records (i.e transcripts and authenticated certificates of attendance), bank Statements, receipts, copies of my i-94, an updated passport photo and a written essay.

Before sending my documents I consulted a lawyer but self-filed. I made sure everything was neat, tabbed, organized and even outlined with a syllabus. I also made sure there were no substantial time gaps between my documents. I made sure I was providing evidence of my “continuous” stay here in the U.S
After sending out my documents, I was particularly scared because I knew my name was already in their system with the SEC. They had already taken my biometrics prior to deferred action.
---------------
On Monday, March 4th my application for deferred action was approved. On Tuesday they approved my i765. Right now I'm still waiting for my documents to arrive.

I'm still waiting for my sister's documentation to be approved. She sent hers a couple weeks later under the same pretenses. She's a year younger than me.

Things are finally turning up. I feel blessed.
I hope everyone here also gets approved soon!

Here’s my timeline:

Application Recieved - 11/13/12 - (Routed to the California Service Center)
Biometrics (no walk-in) - 12/22/12
Daca Approved - 3/4/13
i765 Approved - 3/5/13

CONGRATS!

You and I have almost the same timeline and "almost" the same story.

I also attended a Cal State and was pursuing a degree in Engineering but, unlike you, I was extremely discouraged when i realized that i couldnt even get an internship due to my immigration status and working in my selected field would be next to impossible. I ended up dropping out.

I have recently returned to school thanks to the opportunity/hope that DACA has provided me.

Application Recieved - 11/08/12 - (Routed to the California Service Center)
Biometrics (no walk-in) - 12/11/12
Daca Approved - Waiting
i765 Approved - Waiting

Thank you! You'll get approved soon! There's no harm in trying to look for work apparently. I'm pretty sure they were well aware of my previous work history. Amidst all this, the financial industry is heavily regulated more than anything else. As long as you don't have a previous criminal record, I can say in my case for example it's forgivable, especially in an economy like this where everyone is having a hard time trying to make ends meet.

Don't let anyone discourage you from achieving your goals and dreams.

Best of luck!

Has happen to other in the forum.so lets stay positive
By the way I think newhope had call uscis and maybe
That also influence her approval.
Yes, newGirl is right. I called them on Monday after I got a notification saying that my name was updated for my I-765 application. they told me their system was slow and to try back later. Just to throw it out there, the first representative told me to just wait it could be nothing or my favorite, "a glitch". I didn't budge and I told her about my brothers case. For those that don't know (I posted about it a few weeks ago), my brother had an interesting case. He was transferred back and forth and when he finally received a decision, it was a supposed "RFE" and for the I-765 it said he changed his address. He called them instantly about the whole change of address, and they said it was a "glitch" and that he should be getting the RfE within 30 days. We waited nearly three weeks and never received anything so I told him to call. The first representative said the same thing as before but he asked to speak to a level two agent. Finally after nearly two hours on the phone, the level to agent told him he had been APPROVED. And technically it was since February 5th.

My point is, I know there are a lot of people who think calling is pointless, and maybe for some cases, yeah it won't make a difference. But there is always a chance of error people. Take my brother for example, if it wasn't for him calling we would have waited and waited and then eventually found out he had been approved for a while.

If it makes you feel better just do it. It might not help you, but it sure as hell won't hurt you.

And also, yes my approval came exactly at 6 months and 1 day.

I got approved!!!! I had gotten a call from a company that had offered me a job yesterday morning to let me know that they could not wait for me any longer and they were going to have to hire another person. I was a bit bummed out because this process was talking so long and it had just caused me to lose a job. Today at around 3pm i received an email stating that my card went into production!!! ( talk about bad timing)..... Losing the job does not matter to me anymore because everything happens for a reason and I'm finally approved!! To all those who are waiting... do not lose hope, your time will come!!
