3-year extension makes no difference to most dreamers. Since SCOTUS is not likely to take up DACA, most people can still renew one more time which will give us close to that 3-year extension. It has to be renewable.

As leaders of Dreamers for a Bipartisan Compromise, we'd like to welcome President Trump's call for a compromise and recognize that this is a valid starting point. Further, we acknowledge the Dreamers' concerns for a more permanent solution and call on the Democrats in the House and Senate to come to the negotiating table and fight for one on behalf of us. Most importantly, we realize that most of the Border Security measures called on in this compromise were once endorsed by the Democrats in the past. Given that there is no more demand for a a Brick/Stone Wall, it makes total sense for the Democrats to come on board. It's not even a full 3 years, it all just dies fully on the 3rd anniversary of the bill being signed into law. Doesn't matter how long USCIS takes to process your application and we'd all expire on the same day.
