I agree. Everyone talks about the unemployment rate being high and I have been looking for jobs and to me it really doesn't look like there are no jobs out there. I have seen so many people come into my current job asking me if I can just give them a business card because they need to show it to unemployment to prove that they have been looking for jobs, when in fact they really aren't! I can't believe how they can actually do that.

They need to start making better rules of how people can obtain unemployment and leave it for the people who really can't find a job instead of the people who are just plain lazy.

Every time they talk about how high the unemployment rate is I remember the day I was at work and this guy comes in and says to me " I'm supposed to come in and ask you for a job, but I know nobody is hiring right now anyway . Can I just get a business card from you so it looks like I came in and applied that way they not take my unemployment away?"

There are millions of people like this, and unfortunately that was just the first of many times that that has happened to me. And it's not entirely Obama's fault, there are jobs out there no doubt about it, but there needs to be better ways for people to actually prove they are trying to get a job. Not just by bringing in some business cards to unemployment....

Did Willard said, that we illegals will have the choice to self-deport if we wanted to? And made it sound like he was doing us a favor, funny Mitt. Sorry if im late, I was watching Verlander crush the little yankees.

I can't believe there are people like that out there. They have no shame at all. I wouldn't be surprised if six months from now the economy is back on its feet from all the money the government has taken from us to fill out the application and then from all the money the government will get from us in taxes. I pretty sure we will be the ones that significant change the rate of unemployment, if we are even calculated as Americans.

ITA!

In my opinion there are plenty of jobs out there. Is it a luxury job? Probably not but it is a job that can help your bills and put food on the table. I think the unemployment rate is jacked by individuals just like the one you described. I've seen similar situations where they go into jobs and ask for applications just to show that they are filling them out and "trying." I feel sorry for the true individuals that are suffering from unemployment and are put on the back burner for fools like these.

Can't believe somebody on here cursed at that girl for making a small mistake when she asked the immigration question. You should be ashamed of yourself. She had the courage to ask a very important question for the first time this election season. Props to Lorraine.

Im not a romney supporter, i was being semi sarcastic and repeating what romney said last night. The bigger point is that obama said the same thing in 08. Unless youre actively talking about an issue in the media or during rallys or speeches...its not likely that something will get passed. I think obama might pass reform if he gets reelected but i certainly dont believe it will be in the first year.

STOP, i'm sure Romney's tax plan is completely thought-out and bullet proof, i like especially how many details and specifics he goes into when he explains his tax plan to voters, i mean how can you argue when part of his plan is to get rid of PBS support to balance the federal budget when it is only (0.012% of budget).

I like this quote from Neil deGrasse Tyson:
"Cutting PBS support to help balance the Federal budget is like deleting text files to make room on your 500Gig hard drive"

As for his immigration policy, he said he will not grant amnesty to those who are illegaly in the country and only to those with PhD degrees etc which is probably a really low % of the 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S, again showing elitism and snobbism basically because those with degrees are better than the rest of undocumented immigrants they deserve green cards, while everyone else can go back home.

As for Dreamers (young people who were brought to this country at early age) he said he wants them to serve in the military first, so if you don't get killed in the Army then you can get a green card, sounds completely reasonable to me!!

Obama nailed it when he said
"Governor Romney was a very successful investor. If somebody came to you, governor, with a plan that said, 'Here, I want to spend $7 or $8 trillion, and then we're going to pay for it, but we can't tell you until maybe after the election how we're going to do it,' you wouldn't take such a sketchy deal and neither should you, the American people, because the math doesn't add up."

I dont think thats what he meant. I think he said that he encourages foreigners to go for a phd (presumably in stem) and they should get a gc stapled to their diplomas. But this is very ambiguous because most of them are international students here on a visa and the point would be to keep them here. I dont know if you can assume he meant dreamers (or maybe i wasnt paying close enough attention to him).

Remember that a Phd in the US is a different ball game. They encourage international students to apply but if youre undocumented you face difficulties when it comes to grants and funding.

Regarding immigration this is what I understood from what Romney said last night

1. Those that have a phd for jobs we need here will get a gc stapled to their diploma

2. He never directly says that this includes illegal immigrants that are already here . Remember he made a point to mention those that are waiting on line to come here legally. So even if he does include those that are already here you better believe they will have to get on line behind those whi are doing it the legal way.

3. For those that are here illegally they have the honor of serving in the military for what i assume will be for a certain amount of years, probably 5 or more. During which time I'm sure they'll find some way to put you in the front lines to give the citizens a fighting chance. Even if this is a viable option to some remember you have to be in tip top shape to qualify. If you happen to be your familys bread winner you better hope the government gives them enough to survive while you are off fighting. Oh yea will they even do that?

4. If you choose to not do either of these thats okay. You wont be able to get a job and employers will be faced with such fines that even paying under the table wont be worth it for them. So with no way to live you are forced to either go back to your country or turn to criminal activity. Which will result in mass deportations and tougher laws against us.

So what did we learn boys and girls?? Regardless if you're a republican or democrat if you are here illegally and Romney wins you will be shit out of luck.
