I can't remember if I mailed it in, and then got it returned for lacking a few things and then took it to school, or if they mailed it directly to school, or if I just took the completed form to school w/o maling it to the Gov...

Anyone remember what they did w/theirs?

I finally got to go to the financial aid office today to ask about my application. I explained my situation and he's just like "we can't do that. If we did the government would take away our financial aid blah blah blah." Based on your guys' suggestions I thought he didn't understand what I meant, so I asked if there was any way for the school to keep my income information in their system so scholarship committees could review my information. He basically said that whole process is done through FAFSA, and if it doesn't go through with them I can't do anything about it.

Earlier today I got an email from the school saying I didn't get a scholarship because of "lack of information pointing to financial need."

Disappointing day.

different states and different schools do things differently

as far as i know - YOU CAN FILL OUT FAFSA
If you look at the FAFSA worksheet, Section 1 Q14\
"If you are neither a citizen nor an eligible noncitizen, you are not eligible for federal student aid. However, you should still complete the application because you may be eligible for state or college aid."

Basically they don't mean undocumented here. So you are better off not to fill the FAFSA at all because you are undocumented anyway.

They will go through Social Security Admin, Home Land of Security to check match record.
Will they report this to ISS? No, most of the time, no. They will just send it back and tell you "fix" your application.

But my advice is the same: don't waste your time because if you are eligible for in-state tuition, then you do.
Some colleges don't give any scholarship to undocumented student

why don't you check out here, tonks of great scholarships

Thanks for your response.

Honestly I was so disillusioned when he told me that. The usual case is that I'm reminded of my status with forms and papers. But when he vocally expressed my "illegal" status, I was like fck man I'm a failure.

I'm $1400 short and my tuition is due in 1.5 months. I don't know what I'm going to do. Anyway I spent the last 45 minutes going from link to link on that website you gave me. I found one last scholarship I can apply for fall 2009. Hope it's the one!

Which state are you in? Some states have seperate applications. In Texas they have a form called the TASFA, so you can use that or the FASFA just as long as you send it in to yours schools fin aid department.
