ummm ok, lets clear some things here.

What makes you think that you’re any better than they are? And how convenient of you to draw the line of who gets to stay right after you get legalized. If you think that the illegal immigration problem is out of control then why don’t you put your money where your mouth is, and get the hell out?
ok buddy, i don't think im any better than anyone, my business is my own... have you herd of something called "Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986"? its provisions included securing the border and e-verify enforcement; legalizing 3 million people. this wouldn't be as hard and at this scale if the border was enforced from before. neither any of us would be in this mess. oh and no, um everyone gets legalized if CIR passes. more options would be made possible for people from Latin America to come here legally. Do you even care about those people that die in the desert, do you care about that child that's get split up from their family?... well, i do. Illegal immigration IS out of control, that is why they are trying to fix it. do you have any idea how many people are waiting to come here legally?, do you care about them? do you know what the backlog is?... are you going to bring back the people who already got deported?..

can you tell me why is it that WE can get deported and someone else cant?.. because the way I see it; is that were fighting for this law to change so it gives us a chance. that is why people get arrested when they go near the White House.

these kids that are born here, have the right to stay here. but umm, what happens to that child when its parents are deported? are you gonna take care of it?.. that is why is best for people not to get into this mess in the first place. that is why Obama is trying to secure the border so this doesn't become a routine. giving more options to other people who want to immigrate here legally. no one should live looking over their shoulder. no1 should live in fear. that's why CIR is needed; because it covers many problems that occur due to illegal immigration.

and yes, you can bring many family members here from one person's U.S citizenship; it takes some time, but in the end it happens. its called chained migration. when you immigrate here legally, you don't have that "living in fear" mentality. therefor some will take for granted what others try so hard to get. the U.S passport itself is a gift that anyone would want. i know 5 people personally that just married for papers, got their U.S citizenship and went bye bye. do you how hard it is to reunite a family after deportation?... their loved ones get sent back and cannot come due to the 10 year ban. tell me, is that fair?

don't run with scissors.
i wont benefit from either DA/CIR, because i know that I don't have any time. but yet i go to all marches and call all senators, for who? not for me. that train has already left.

not really, that's someone who only listens to their side. I like to listen to both sides of the argument and find common ground. that's what Obama is trying to do. the guy is smart, he doesn't want to do something unless he knows he will be successful. cause you know; allot of people's lives are at steak.

this bill will never pass because it violates the constitution. lol. however, i do believe that america needs to secure the border and stop these reckless immigrants from crossing the border illegally. plain and simple. this nation sent human beings to the moon FORTY years ago and you're telling me you cant secure a thousand mile border? plz. illegal immigration needs to stop. plain and simple. legislations such as these are unfortunate byproducts of this serious problem and some of them can be downright mean and racist.

we need to secure the borders and criminalize any new illegal immigrants coming in by slapping them with a felony because what they are doing is violating the sovereignty of a nation. but we do need to take care of people who are already here making a living, especially people like us who grew up here.

listen, as much as i hate NUMBERSUSA, ALIPAC, BIGOTED PEOPLE, i do agree that we need to stop this ridiculous exodus of illegal immigrants coming in without inspection. that, by definition, is an invasion of sort.

secure the border, pass the dream act, then agjobs, then eventual legalization of 12 million people. step by step. lets be reasonable.

Seriously.

DAP would greatly benefit from some kind of idiot-blocking device, but alas, none exist.

Alex, you are not Obama. You are not in the position to negotiate a common ground between Durbin and Vitter or NumbersUSA and the Immigration Forum. Heck, you are not even mediating among the members of DAP. You say you are a realist, so get a reality check.

Bruinman, you made a point. How come the most powerful country in the nation has a steady influx of undocumented workers? How come the most important card that holds the most important number of is the crapiest made in the world. Even a 10 year old can make a fake SS card.

Well, it is because the USA wants its cake and eat it too. As long as it is not willing to implement a safe and sound way to keep the influx of immigrants that it needs, we are going to have illegal aliens, dreamers and citizens being born out of undocumented workers. Of course, that will offend the irrational vote which is small but vocal. The only solution to keep businesses and nativist happy is by having illegal aliens. We, dreamers, are just a negative/positive externality, it depends on the light you see it.

What surprises me is that this thread has not been lock already. It sounds racist, demeaning and plain poorly written by the first post. How come no one saw it coming that this was going to be yet another pointless argument that was going to show the worst of this community.

Write the posts in a way that does not make you look like a nativist jerk. Don't agree in public with the nativist because you lose credibility, not gain respect. Do it or God help me, I'll twist Nick's arm until he makes me a mod and I'll rule DAP with an iron fist! 'cause you guys don't need a cool friend like Nick, you need a jerk like Dick Cheney to force you into shape.

God I am so piss off! I feel like a damn Republican.

Way to take a tangent on my response.

How you infer that I’m oblivious to people dying in the desert, or families getting split up, is beyond me. Or how apparently it’s also clear I don’t know about the ’86 Immigration Reform or about - what was that? Backlogs? Are they one of the infamous 7 amnesties?

And while your spiel was a roller coaster of emotional possible outcomes and a little bit of comedy, this is what brought it together for me:

O.O

But in any case, I don’t see the point in making you look like a fool; lest someone reading this might assume we all think alike.

Though my arguments still stand: Don’t generalize all immigrants as greedy. Don’t talk extemporaneously about social services if you don’t know the first thing about them. Don’t downplay the countless obstacles that immigrants have to go through in order to bring a relative into the USA. And don’t assume that since a guy you know did it, everyone else will.
