Unfortunately I think some people are/were going to have to get the bad side of the CIR for any kind of CIR to pass in the first place to please those xenophobes or put them at ease at the least. They martyrs of the CIR, really.

with you 100% there... i dont quite get what the plan really is from reading this article. I also cant seem to figure out what side the author was on. he sounded like he was quite happy a bunch of immigrants are about to get F***d.

I mean ya, sounds great if it really happens, that they use this "new, tougher" system as a decoy while they slip in the dream act and get it to pass. But... what if they dont. What if the dream act is slipped in, but doesnt pass. or what if they dont even try to slip anything in at all? What if the decoy is not for them but for us. because just from what i see in this forum, no one has any complaints about that plan... that "new tougher system" is gonna pass with no opposition what so ever.

Basically my point is, we could get the great dream act out of this.. but we may also ONLY get a new e-verify system that's gonna bite even harder than it already does.

With an estimated 12 million immigrants in the US and a proposed e-verify system that is supposed to weed out all those that are working illegally, as well as taking into consideration at how the deportation of such a stagering number would probably not be too simple or economically feasible under the current cost of deportation figures I would think the enforcement of laws might work to the benefit of the majority and that those that get deported under the enforcement side of the equation indeed become the martyrs that brought forth the change.

I also think that the majority of the people that are getting deported have committed some sort of offense besides just being here illegally.

That is a strong statement. Do you have some figures to share with us?

Here are some figures for you!!! I hope it helps clear some stuff. The information comes from http://www.dhs.gov/xlibrary/assets/s...ment_ar_08.pdf

That takes into account a lot of those raids that happened under Bush.

That certainly seemed to be the focus that the author of that artcile seem to display by describing the crimes commited by the individuals being deported, which is why I really did not like that article.

Thing is, there have been raids in public places (banks, at one point it was rumored schools), holding a job is a federal offense and a lot of people that used to have valid driver's licenses could not renew them so they get caught with out a valid license that has not expired either due to a traffic violation or a road block. There have been other instances of deportation procedures being commenced not due to leaving the country but just traveling between destinations in greyhound buses and amtrak trains. And pretty soon I would expect something similar to be applied to airports.

Immigrants have to work somehow, they are not here on an infinite vacation, so the e-verify program will certainly strike many individuals unless something is down to ensure they are legally here before e-verify goes into effect in most places of work.

Come on lets face it, ICE is out there looking for anyone who has the face of an immigrant or at least sounds like one... I have a friend who was sitting on a bus stop in Buffalo, NY.. mind you shes been here for 2 years from Brazil, you know her english was sh** at that point.... AN ICE officer comes up to her and asks her for ID.. who the fuck gets asked for ID waiting on a bus stop.. Obviously she didnt have any, so they took her, put her in Jail mind you NOT some sort of detention center, and was mistreated for being of Latin origin and even had inmates tell her they felt bad for her that she was Latina and ended up in there, why? bc those guys are racist mofukers, and bc ICE is just out to get us period

That's funny, they say that people don't need laborers, then who is on the fields at the moment?

I think it's bullsh*t, but that's how politics works.
