I got one from Bloomingdales but it's only to shop there so I don't know if that makes it easier to get.

yes, all you need is a valid SSN and an ID. the ID can be a foreign passport or even a matricula consular. the SSN gets processed right away to check the applicant's credit. i believe you can use an ITIN as well.
