Brother, don't be so negative. I've had it extremely rough myself.

If you don't believe me this is what I've been through.

My parents got divorced. I got raped. The man I admired the most died in front of my eyes. My mother left me for my ex step dad who would hit me, in a way I also wanted her to leave since she was acting weird. Later she was diagnosed with skitzophrenia. I haven't live with my dad since I was 2, and with my mom since I was 10. So don't make your self the victim, just move one and press on, because in the end my brother it will pay it OFF. I'm pretty sure some of you guys recall me being all emo a couple of days back. And guess what? I GOT THE JOB, I GET TO GO TO SCHOOL. It all starts with being positive. Yeah, I'll loose the job in a month, but that should get me money to pay for the books

And still I'm trying to get more money by entering more scholarships!

PS that isn't even half my journey, I skipped the worst.

Sorry to hear about your story, but i wasn't being negative at all. I am just stating the obvious that most of us don't have the luxury of waiting another 2, 3 years etc for the dream act to pass. I believe and hope it's going to pass this year or early next year though.

Well having a plan B is never a bad idea.

I've been in the exact same position as the OP. Identical. Only it was in 2003/2004, back when Comprehensive Immigration Reform was in the news with Bush in office.

I went crazy learning about how the system worked, went on the Senate/House websites to track the bill, did all of that.

But then it failed. It came up again in 2005/2006, and failed again. I felt completely let down and gave up.

At that point a few different things started happening with me.

a) I started feeling a lot of annoyance and resentment towards the opponents of the bill. Why? Because I felt like a lot of what they said ( Yeah, I watched CSPAN too ) was so ignorant and misguided.

b) I lost faith in the political process in general. I got an inside look into it at that time, and it was like a complete epiphany for me- I saw totally uninformed statements coming from Congressmen! I lost faith in them at that point.

At this stage, I really hope this bill comes through. But I'm not holding my breath.

I'm trying to make my life right with God, be at peace with nature, and not depend on flawed minds working in a flawed process to determine the outcome and direction of my life.

It's very difficult, but I feel that true hope does not come from people in power, it comes from within.

Good luck, God bless, and do good.
