Erm. There's a nursing shortage in the USA. Taking up limited spots in a nursing program seems immoral. This country needs nurses that can work. We're talking about people's lives here who could be saved by just one more nurse. Your future career is on the line, and those people's very EXISTANCES are on the line. Knowingly being a "deadweight" student who can't work after graduating is rather monstrous when you know there are others who could actually be helping people.

Well then the laws should make it easier to sponsor immigrants to shorten the process if there is a shortage of nurses in the USA (which there are). If there is a shortage, I doubt there are "limited" spots in nursing programs. That would seem counterintuitive.

If the legal system allows it, I don't see anything "monstrous" in applying LEGALLY to be able to work as a nurse. If you continue with your judgmental rhetoric, begone.

If you are so concerned, then go to nursing schools around the country and tell them to change their policies. Also, as far I know, nurses don't exactly diagnose people, maybe nurse practitioners, so how is someone's life going to be saved by a nurse? Anyway, one spot doesn't matter, since we give visas to nurses in other countries to come over here.

Hey guys....

ADDITIONAL INFO REGARDING AZ NURSING: I just want to add this along with Geronimo's post on the topic.

I did further research on AZ liscensing procedure and this found that the affidavid is valid and useful, but AZ state still requires proof of citizenship along with it to apply for liscense or you will be denied if you fail to present one. The reason why Filipinos were able to do this is because they can still provide a valid visa even without an SSN....say they just migrated and have yet to apply for one because Social Security are now very strict with giving out numbers unless you have a job. Once they have the liscense, applied for a nursing job and got accepted, they can then apply for a valid SSN to use in the future. I know some hospitals are willing to sponsor their migrant nurses for a visa adjustment and in that way helps them get a green card and citizenship in the future.

I'm a bit familiar with this because I'm both a Filipino and an AZ resident. Sadly, I'm a dreamer too and I have no other hope to fulfill my dream unless the bill gets passed.

Lets hope that happens soon

some of them keeps renewing their licenses and come transfer their test result of nclex to another state and gets a license from there!

oh i see, sounds good, thanks for the info. I will probably end up doing that then, if I do not get my status adjusted.

Ow cool, that's a good way to work around it then. Some states are not so strict when it comes to that, so I guess that leaves us more options to consider. Arizona though has a strict mind of its own (), so I could only wish they change that. Migrating these days is a hard option for me to consider.

Thanks for the info hun =)
