Not to be a downer, but didn't we get something like this just a few months ago? And then all that happened was a meeting with the president or something. Nothing really got done as far as a bill or anything. Hope this time it goes better.

They better.

After the chest compressions and right before they use a defibrillator, they should read you the Dream Act and ask you to sign a petition.

I don't want to be a pessimist, but immigration reform bills have been introduced in the past. The hard part is getting all these morons to debate it, agree, pass it...but 2010 has to be our year...I need to travel "back home" to see my family again...

All these introductions are a joke.

I bet most of these senators just say "I just have another stupid meeting to go to and then I go home for dinner".

This is really meaningless until they really start debating anything. The DA was introduced in March and maybe, and I mean maybe, it might actually get debated on sometime next year.

If I am correct, that was publicity for Tuesday and stating the core principles of what should be in bill that will be introduced.

In order to start a debate there must be something to talk about. My issue with this is that Schumer promised a bill by labor day. His bill is now due next month. I would actually prefer if the House bill was passed first.

I suggest reading the old threads in this section, from this past June to now to see read the information that was posted. Maybe your opinion will change.
Besides CIR 2010 is so important to me. I strongly believe that all our lives will change for the better.

We must start organizing and getting ready to call and make our voices heard as soon as Jan 4th. I think sending thousands of letters to Congress and the White House is a good idea. The opposition is planning our defeat. We must earn CIR. I want to do something, anything to better my life and others. Instead of sitting and doing nothing. We should prepare to fight for our dreams.

Happy Holidays everyone

The difference between then and now is that in October, Gutierrez released the principles by which he was going to guide the bill-writing process. His bill is now written and he is announcing its re-introduction.

Tomorrow, DreamActivist is hosting a call with Mark Silverman from the Immigrant Legal Resource Center. He has read the bill and will be providing background information on what it means for Dreamers: http://action.dreamactivist.org/cir_call
