U cant filibuster in the house, you have roughtly 90 seconds to bitch and moan, then someone else has his chance to bitch and moan (...) then you get to the amendments (behind the scenes and only if the rules committee had decided to have an open vote) and then the up or down vote.

I don't see how it is good. We want the Senate to take it up first, before the new Republican takes his Senate seat. Everyone knows the House will pass it.

it's the gain of momentum that is so good ! I don't think I've ever heard from a Republican rep calling for passage of DA

How is it that we can get 218 people in the House easily but we have to kill ourselves to get just 60 in the Senate??!!

Some stuff just does not make sense!

Thats because Senate does not have 60 Dems anymore because Brown beat Coakley.

Senator Kennedy also passed away.

The answer is simple: In the House of representatives, representation is based on state population; whereas In the Senate, representation is equal regardless of population.

This effectively means senator from a small conservative state (SD) has equal say on the DA as say a senator from a large liberal state (CA). The founders created the two party system as checks to each other, and to prevent the tyranny of the majority. With cloture abuse running rampant in the recent years, it has become nearly impossible to get anything done when dealing with controversial issues.
