This law is quite useless perhaps getting rid of it could be one of the steps towards dealing with the immigration issue.

it is a stupid law! They should ban it. If it weren't for it, I would have left the country and came back with a legit student visa. Graduating with a student visa, at least we have some shot at trying to find a job, even if it meant finding a sponsor. :-/

I think this would be an excellent idea. I cannot emphasize enough that at this point I do not care about getting legalized, but I am staying because I am afraid that the ban is going to fall over me.

This could be a great compromise idea for sides of the isle and it's not even necessary to scrap it altogether. Just make it more reasonable. Instead of a 10 year ban make it 2 or 3 years for example, but take steps to make it more credible.

Smaller more credible sentences are a better deterrent. And a far more just too.

Lol, I think ALL of us would love it. Many of us would immediatly get GC's through our parent(s) and siblings who have GC's/USC.

They also have a 'WAIVER' part. Anyone know how this works? Immigration may grant you stay without the 3/10 year ban.

Another one would be the 245i grandfathered rule.

There appears to be no movement on immigration. Getting rid of the ban would help a lot of people and would not be seen as a concession by the repubs.
Yes, or TPS.

That year was crucial to the H1B holders who lost their jobs and had to go back. A lot of them Overstayed.

Also, if they extend the April 30th, 2001 245i deadline then many of us would get GC right away.
