That is because of the lack of knowledge. There are plenty of Irish that are undocumented.

Racism exits and is a factor in many issues, immigration included, but it's not the only factor.

*In the nicest way possible* if you take an American History class you'll find out thats an incorrect statement. I would recommend you start looking at what happened to the white, Christian, English-speaking immigrants from Ireland (lynchings, etc.) then go from there. Racism exists throughout the planet, in every country, large religious group, school, hospital, political party, etc. But to say that America was built upon racism is BS. There were lots of nativists who hated all-white European immigrants yesterday, and idiots who still hate all immigrants today - regardless of skin color. I truly am sorry that you feel that you live in a country that is built upon and is constantly racist, but I think if you look deeper you may change your mind.

Maybe America was not fully built upon racism, but racism in this current time and era is prominent or "racial prejudice". A couple of months back, I read an article about an undocumented Irish girl who had gone to jail in Boston, and they allowed her to stay because "aside the fact that she was undocumented, she was a hard working gal." I truly do believe there is a prejudice against people who do not have Caucasian heritage, it's like the elephant in the room, no one is brave enough to say it, and they have to accept the fact that "America welcomes every race, and its diversity is what built America" but America also wishes it was of a lighter skin color. Now, I'm not defending my fellow Latinos, because some of them really shouldn't be here causing mischief, etc, and I've been lucky to live in places where diversity (sexual orientation & ethnicity) is fully welcomed, but it really grinds my ear when people say racial prejudice is not an issue here. However, i really liked what you said about idiots who still hate every immigrant regardless of their nationality. Kudos.

Your day-to-day, average, normal opinion about Irish illegal aliens:

They'd also laugh if they knew that there are Black and Asian people in the U.S. that are also undocumented. Some people just refuse to separate Mexico from immigration.

True.
I believe American politic is based on racism.
Average American or politicians (typically GOP) try make connection between undocumented immigrants and Latinos.
Hey, I am a Korean undocumented immigrant.

You know when I was living in Korea, I never thought about undocumented people living in my country. Now I understand their feeling of living as second class citizens.
This is somewhat valuable lesson I obtain by living in US undocumented.

The whole immigration issue definitely has a lot of racism tied to it. Whenever someone is talking about illegal immigrants/undocumented immigrants, they've always gotta mention Mexico or Mexicans somewhere. It makes me want to bang my head on the table because it's not just about Mexico--there are so many of us from countries around the world.

Sigh...I really hate when people make this error. You claim racism but said Mexican at the end there, brotha. That's called nationalism. Also, I agree that Amerixa is racist, but I wouldn't go as far as saying it was built on racism.
