The Real ID act is going to pass in Texas very shortly it means they make it harder to get a license with one bill than make people get one to vote. We have a lot of undocumented voters that have been voting in a lot of states this does away with it. It also meant to scare documented immigrants to register to vote if they have illegal family members in there house. Its a far reaching bill that does a lot of intimidation and it weakens the state of Hispanic influence. I saw a poll the other day that said Texas is going to be over 50% Hispanic in 30 years I don't think these rednecks are going to let that happen.

interesting, I wonder when the federal government will start discussing the immigration issue. This is pathetic.

Whatever, Sean Hannity. You should conduct a probe on ACORN and also expose all those illegals who are supposedly collecting welfare too.

I can't believe nobody challenged this trollish post. People who are not citizens cannot vote! We should not perpetuate myths that one finds on the Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage shows here.

texas has been on real id since like 2008, i really doubt undocs are voting if u just look at the huge size of the republican congress, i doubt most hispanics even bothered to vote, unfortunately for many hispanics once theyre in and have residency they forget to care about standing up for others, im not dogging their attempts, the march on austin a week ago is admirable, but i sure as hell know there could be alot more support for such things just look at whats going on in wisconsin against scott brown,

whats going on in New Mexico? as far as i know all things are go for May 11 Real id, with that nasty lookin fake blonde Susana la tejana taking over i doubt she'll stop just look at how shes been posturing herself even tho her grandparents probably jumped the fence at some point, hispanics like her are an embarrasment

REAL ID Law Now Delayed a Third Time

Mar. 4, 2011 (PR Newswire) —

Conclusion: DHS Intends to Ignore 9/11 Commission Recommendations

WASHINGTON, March 4, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Today’s announcement by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) that it would delay, for the third time, implementation of the REAL ID Act, demonstrates that the security of the nation continues to take a backseat to politics, charged the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). As Governor of Arizona, Janet Napolitano opposed passage of REAL ID and continues to resist its implementation as Secretary of DHS. This latest delay means that state driver’s licenses and other identity documents will not have to meet tighter standards until January 15, 2013.

Congress originally enacted REAL ID on May 11, 2005. It was scheduled to take effect three years later. The previous delay pushed the deadline for compliance to May 11, 2011. REAL ID addresses specific recommendations made by the 9/11 Commission, which found that lax rules for issuance of state driver’s licenses and inconsistent security features of the licenses were exploited by the terrorists who carried out the deadly attacks against our nation. Bureaucratic foot-dragging by state governments and advocates for illegal aliens has prevented this vital legislation from going into effect.

“Assuming this latest deadline is actually met, it will have taken nearly as much time for this country to produce a secure driver’s license as it took from the time President Kennedy set the goal of putting a man on the moon to Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landing there,” noted Dan Stein, president of FAIR. “There is no valid reason for why it should take nearly eight years to implement a set of guidelines designed to prevent terrorists from obtaining driver’s licenses.

“Today’s announcement gives Americans serious reason to doubt that the Obama administration ever intends to implement REAL ID,” continued Stein. “The repeated delays in implementation are nothing more than a back door tactic to kill a law that the administration does not want to enforce.”

Advocates for illegal aliens opposed passage of REAL ID and have consistently fought the law’s implementation. Full implementation of the law would make it virtually impossible for illegal aliens to obtain valid driver’s licenses or other government-issued identity documents. These identity documents have helped facilitate illegal immigration, making it easy for illegal aliens to live and work in the United States.

“Producing a secure driver’s license is something that should have been easily accomplished within the original timeframe set by the law. The hold-up is that a secure driver’s license conflicts with the immigration policy goals of many in Washington. Those goals, unfortunately, continue to take precedence over the security of the nation,” Stein charged.

Obama administration delays rule to improve driver's license security
REAL ID ACT

March 04, 2011|By Mike M. Ahlers, CNN

A 9/11 commission recommendation to set federal standards for state driver's licenses is being kicked down the road again -- the third major delay in its history.
The Department of Homeland Security said Friday that it is moving the May 11 deadline for implementation of the Real ID Act to January 15, 2013, so that cash-strapped states will have more time to add security features to driver's licenses and ensure that license holders are who they say they are.
A group of Republican lawmakers immediately assailed the 21-month delay, noting that Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano had recently testified the terrorist threat is "in many ways at its most heightened state since 9/11."
