I think after the 300,000 cases are cleared in the coming months then Dream Act will probably come to the floor again for a vote with E-Verify.

I think this AILA announcement should further cement what 'buckminsterfullerene' is saying,if you're in proceedings this maybe of help and more geared towards those situations than anything else.

Now if you are in removal proceedings,I'd highly suggest getting a lawyer asap to see how this can be taken advantage of.
Quote:
What is administrative closure?
Administrative closure applies only to an individual whose case is already before the
immigration judge. When a case is administratively closed, it means that the case is no
longer active and no action will be taken, including no future hearings, unless and until
either the government or the noncitizen asks for the case to be made active again. A
person whose case is administratively closed is still in removal proceedings
.
Administrative closure is NOT legal status. It is simply a temporary suspension of
an immigration court case
.
Will I get legal status from the Administration’s announcement?

No. According to the announcement, cases that are deemed to be of low priority will
either (1) be administratively closed, or (2) no enforcement action will be taken. This is
not an amnesty or legal status, but rather a temporary decision not to use
limited government resources to deport low priority individuals.

The Administration has also stated that individuals whose cases are administratively
closed will be eligible to apply for a work permit (or EAD). An EAD means that an
individual can legally work in the United States and obtain a social security number for
work. In some states, having an EAD also means you can apply for a drivers license or
other identification)
. An EAD does not give a person legal status--it is just
temporary permission to work.

Thanks IANUS.

That's good info there.

I was apprenhended when I entered the US at 15, 11 years ago, but since then, my home address have changed. So if my case is closed, how can I find out? thats my main problem lol.

This is what I found about EAD.

Yeah I know bro. Hence my specific statement. There are those who don't care about the consequence of their action, and do stupid stuff(like DUI, not reporting to court, etc) that gets them arrested and into deportation proceedings(the kind of people that i'm referring to). And the people who were simply driving to the market or school, were pulled over for a broken taillight, arrested, and put into deportation proceedings. I know the difference. And do you seriously think those who aren't benefit from this? "Now you can live your life with lesser fear." Bro, we're still living in fear in oppression. Those undocumented who have jobs still have to live with the fear of being out of one because employers will soon have to use E-Verify and will, consequently, be let go. Those who wish to attend university are still trapped by the legal demands of their state's school system. Police will continue to take advantage of undocumented drivers. While they may not be able to deport, they can still place heavy fines. Don't let the media convince you the good behind this until you actually see this. However, I confirm the above with realistic speculation.

Totally agree, once and when the 300,000 cases are finished within the next couple of months I do hope that the administration of this country does something to help those who weren't in deportation Proceedings. A lot of us just needs a chance to adjust our status without being persecuted.

I hope that this is a prelude for bringing up the subject of reform or the Dream Act at least but quite honestly, I don't think it would even be brought up until after 2012.

I think after the 300,000 cases are resolved then Dream Act will take center stage.

IIRC Senator Durbin plans for a strong Dream Act push starting next month.
