Oh wow, Im a NY dreamer to who is currently in my 3rd year nursing program. I am getting so panicky about taking the NCLEX because I heard they fingerprint you and like ask for a social to get into one of the testing centers!!! ACCKKK im so scared! I mean its a year and a half away but hell its still coming nonetheless.

It's nice and comforting to know that there are fellow Dreamer Nurses out there. I wish us all the best!

Oh and about that Canada self sponsor, my family has been looking into that should I resort to that as well within the next few years but if you are applying you do need at least 1 year full time experience as an RN OR you can actually apply at a hospital in Canada and should they see you are an asset to them they will do whatever is necessary to give you a tourist visa for an interview and then eventually a working visa should you get hired. That was the other option but it is rare that happens and you practically have to have connections within the hospital for that to happen. Rare but not impossible.

Best of wishes to you and congratulations!

Don't be scared. Just refer to the link to the thread i provided previously. I followed what the poster recommended and it worked perfectly. Putting a SSN is optional (really because there are a lot of foreigners who take the exam in the US w/out ssn). They fingerprint you when you go to sit for the exam, but they don't run it through any type of database or anything. However, you do need official ID. I used non-expired non-US passport, which was fine.

Oh phew that's good news! But idk I have a passport and I also have a valid NM Driver's License. Won't they wonder why I am not taking the NCLEX in NM?

Well like I said, maybe try to apply to a hospital...maybe call one of the directors or human resources over there. See this is where it gets tricky, its best if you have any friends or family who live in Canada and who can recommend you to a hospital over there. That would be the best case scenario, worst case scenario you can literally just call the hospital you are interested and if they are "nice" lol then they might ask for you to send your resume over. And you dont have to personally fly or go there, you can just give it via internet.

Ok. I guess it's worth a shot. I don't have any family over there or anything - have to start researching hospitals i suppose! Worse case scenario, may have to return to the homeland to gain the experience, and then apply to canada from there. But that will entail leaving my whole family behind, which is kind of scary (and I'll literally cry if da/cir passes when i leave..but how long can I really keep waiting!..hmm). If anyone knows of the best areas to move to/work in Canada, I'll welcome any recommendations. Thanks..=)

Well if you do leave doesnt that mean you'll have to have the 10 year ban? which is a no no lol
