First off like some of the replies you've been getting don't put your life on hold because of the DA.
As for those other comments about this law never seeing the light of day is completely wrong. No immigration bill allowing path to citizenship will pass on its first year it becomes available. Its been a long time since the bill was first written, and time does count on this matter. If these individuals really do believe in their own words they wouldn't even come to this forum and read up on current news. Believe me they are all hoping because they know it will pass, but they're just not putting their lives on hold.

Hey I'm just here because I got in the habitof using the forum, and I like to keep abreast of things in the US. I don't have a horse in the race because I left the country, but I am rooting for you guys. I just feel like being out of the race has allowed me to look at this whole thing in a more objective light.

I also decided against college and went straight to work, but looking back on it I was an idiot. Forget about money, the quicker you get you degree the quicker you can leave. I would've never considered such a thing at 18 but it's amazing how differently you see things 5 years later.

Go for the degree. It may be tough, but you'll be better off getting it. If D.A. passes, then you may already have your degree or may still be in college. If it doesn't, then at least you have a degree that you can use to establish a life in another country.

I don't think the Dream Act will pass, it is a false hope. It is heart breaking every time it finally goes to the senate floor or house floor and it fails.

Do you plan on staying here all of your life? If you do, waiting might not be such a bad idea. Especially if you're doing ok financially. I'm in a similar situation myself. However, I'm not waiting for the Dream Act to pass. I honestly don't think it'll pass either.

The reason why religion is so popular, is because, as humans, we all need something to believe. Be it imaginary or something real, it helps us through the day, heck, through life. If the dream act passing helps this guy look toward the future and keep on living, then who the hell are you to bring him down?

Let people believe what they want, even if you absolutely know "better" than them. What's in it for you to "correct" someone to what you believe? The amazing feeling of being right and holier than others? Ok yeah, what else?

Live and let live...

since you're 18, go back to your home country, work & save $, and then get a student visa to come to US. DA is not right around the corner
