Gingich ,unlike Romney hasn't publicly condemned the undocumented but instead proposes a compromise. I wouldn't be surprised if Fox news is being used to program it's viewers since they seem to believe and follow whatever the channel says.

But also take into consideration the religious aspect of it all. Christianity is deeply ingrained in Iowa. And even though there are MANY who are complete hypocrites (ie Bachmann), there are VERY many others who do want to help. Take for example the deeply red Utah. Even they let undocumented people drive there.
