Either one works fine. Personally and seems a lot of people have, they put "Unlawful Status".

That section is stringent only if you have an actual status (F-1, E-2, B-2, etc). We don't have any, so it's all "Unlawful status" "out of status" "EWI (if you hopped the border)" "[insert your previous legal status] (expired)"...

I've seen millions of variations.

If you have petitioned for EAD before, that applies. Otherwise leave it blank.

Check with your parents. I had a bit of a panic last night because I realized my parents had previously filed a joint I-485/I-765 and put me as derivative adjustment back in 2002. Had to go back and found out I even had an Alien Number... -_-

That block on top of the application. DO NOT WRITE ANYTHING ON IT. It does say "For USCIS Use Only"

and the USCIS office question is only answered if you have a pending application of a different situation. Like if you have someone petition you or something.

It might be needed by other people.

STRAIGHT from the i-765 instructions packet, page 5.

"Unlawful Status: Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals by ICE" should go under 15 according to this.

I really don't understand why there is a 1. and 2. Number 2. having us file another I-765 with a copy of your first approval. Does anyone understand that?
