My parents were able to find whatever jobs they found and they were able to keep a roof over our heads. They didnt have the best jobs but somehow we've managed. We're not rich by any means at all but we're not homeless. Yet....

I hate saying this but in my mind they're either addicts or too proud or just plain lazy. I really can't find any other explanation.
You basically summed it up, there are a lot of reasons. Also, I believe shelters don't allow addicts entry.

You're right, it be a great paper. I have an interest in majoring in economics along with accounting, but still not 100% sure.

Some USC homeless people are also veterans and/or disabled/mentally ill. Anyone with an addiction has a disease therefore they are not thinking straight (I'm not making excuses for the decision they made but once they're addicted they don't think straight) What bothers me is people who judge us undocumented folks without knowing us and then go around supporting people who then pass legislation that discriminate against us and makes it a lot harder to live here. What they don't know is that they're not only affecting us but even USC/residents as well.

Also given that undocumented workers are basically subsidizing Social Security, you can't help but wonder if that plays an important role is stopping any legislation that might otherwise give us legal status (and therefore, claims to SS benefits).

Could the U.S. survive? Definitely. However, it'd probably feel somewhat of a hit to its economy, even if Americans don't want to believe it. I sometimes find it a little hard to believe that Americans always complain about there not being jobs. If illegal immigrants can find a job and make a living, I don't see why a U.S. citizen can't do the same.

It would be a hit to the US economy, but nothing substantial. Some economists even say the effect would be neutral. Undocumented aliens account for the creation of a few million jobs through their economic activity, but also burden state and federal governments with additional spending in health an educational services.

It doesn't hold par to, say, increases in automation and advancements in technology, but it's still difficult to ignore.

Exactly. They just don't try hard enough with that sweet free money coming in from the government for being unemployed. There are numerous morons who just leech off the government like that. If you seriously wanted a job, it's not hard to find one.
