lol I've been driving since I learned to back when I was fifteen, got my permit that same year and still kept driving ever since it expired. My legit question is if an insured car isn't enough, I thought the car has to belong with someone with a valid Il drivers license as well.

The car has to be insured because you get to drive that same car for the road test. Someone with a DL has to bring it to the DMV though.

that's what I thought but like my specific question was if it had to be under the same person's name (insurance and DL). Might be silly but just making sure.

No, because you are actually going to drive it for the road test, and they only care that the car is insured in case of an accident. Although you might not be insured under that vehicle, but the DMV is just saving their butts by fulfilling the minimal requirement of documenting non-expired insurance on such vehicle.

You don't have to wait 6 months. You can practice for few days and then take the road test

pretty much you need your:

EAD (satisfies Group A & B)
I-797 letter for I-821D (deferred action approval letter) (satisfies Group D)
Social Security Award Letter (satisfies Group C & D)

and of course pass your written and road tests

note: SSN prinouts not accepted in IL, you will need your actual letter award containing the SSN card.

share your experiences everyone if you have attempted at applying for ID/DL
