NEW APPLICANTS usually take longer to receive their licenses!

relax.
well buddy, some people already got the 2 year licenses, so it makes no sense for some people to be satisfied with that when the other people from the SAME STATE are getting 5 year DLs

yeah, they should show proof, because damn...

anyway...they should go back jan 1st after the new law takes effect, and ask for a 5 year license...

also... shitty DMV employees who think they're all that and a bag of skittles.

Out of curiosity, what part of CA are you located in?

I just moved to SF from LA for school. It sucks, because I was thinking of taking my tests in LA. But, my friend had a car and I wanted to get it done faster. Clearly, now it seems like a bad decision.

It has nothing to do with Location, more like Luck. it's 50/50.
I got mine 4+/5+ yr DL/ID at one DMV
Someone else got 2 yr ID at another DMV, 4 miles away
Someone else got a 6 yr ID at the same DMV I went

When it comes time to renew, sent the application to renew by mail and the renew fee and they'll send you a 5 yr license. Try to avoid going in person.
If your SSN is verified on-file they'll issue 5 yr licenses after initial license.
