No FAFSA (federal). If international students on valid F-1 visas that are 100% legal don't qualify for federal aid, DACA beneficiaries certainly don't qualify either.

For FAFSA its not about using a fake SSN. Whoever has it lied about their status and claimed citizenship or LPR.

I have a real SSN but i had to mark non citizen. It gives you back a report and does not report the EFC.

FAFSA stands for Free Application for FEDERAL student Aid. You are not eligible for federal anything. Some schools may ask you to apply anyway to see how much your family can contribute. If states like Texas have their own policies then I'm not sure what to tell you there but the standard FAFSA is nationwide.

+1.

What I see that confuses people here on this forum as well as other dreamers I know is that for example here in TX sometimes people use the paper FAFSA application instead of using TAFSA (I really have no idea why). Anyways, because they do this they believe or make others believe they are receiving federal aid when in fact they are only receiving aid from Texas or the school itself.

Another thing that confuses people is that since we'll be eligible to receive an SSN they automatically believe that makes us eligible for FAFSA and that DACA makes us legal when it doesn't.

As far as other states go I believe there's a thread for that in the lounge and if you just did some research on your own then you'll see if you qualify for state aid/school aid depending on the state you live in and the school you want to attend.

YUP TASFA STANDS FOR TEXAS APPLICATION for STATE FINANCIAL AID.

Students who are not U.S. citizens but who qualify for state residency under House Bill 1403/Senate Bill 1528 are eligible to apply for...

WHICH PRETTY MUCH MEANS THAT WHAT EVER THE SCHOOL HAS LEFT FROM FASFA, THEY GIVE TO TASFA APPLICANTS WHO QUALIFY. THEY USE TO TAKE TASFA APPLIACTIONS BUT ABOUT A YEAR AGO THEY WANT FASFA ON PAPER WICH IS PRETTY MUCH TASFA IF YOU ARE NOT A CITIZEN.

TEXAS APPLICATION FOR STATE FINANCIAL AID

In 2001, legislation was passed by the State of Texas to allow certain categories of foreign students to meet state requirements for residency. This classification enables these students to pay resident tuition and fee rates while attending public institutions of higher education in Texas in addition to meeting residency requirements for some state financial aid programs.

To receive this classification, you must be able to meet one of the three criteria below.

You must hold a visa that enables you to domicile in the United States*. You (or your parent, if you are a dependent) must be gainfully employed in Texas for at least 12 months.
You (regardless of INS status) have petitioned for permanent residency status (have filed an I-130 or I-140).
You have resided in Texas for 3 years leading up to graduation from high school or the receipt of a GED certificate, living at least part of that time with a parent or court-appointed legal guardian. You have not established a residence in another state or location and have not taken ANY college hours prior to fall 2001 that required admission to an institution of higher education. (This includes hours taken through dual enrollment while attending high school).
If you qualify for resident status based on one of the three criteria listed, you are eligible to apply for state aid. For more information and to apply for the 2012-2013 academic year, please complete the Texas Application for State Financial Aid.

*For more information regarding visas that enable you to domicile in the United States, please view the table of INS Visa Types.
