If you're willing to take anything Walmart, Target, Walgreens and pretty much all those big stores are a good place to start (if you have no experience). I have many friends that started there and then moved up to working at a bank or at insurance places. If this is your first job, I've got some advice for you. Don't imitate the majority of USCs that are also starting out. All they do is whine and bitch about their job being too hard and not getting paid enough. It's a first job. You wont be there forever if you're smart.
This is good info.....
and its all true!
once I get my approval I'll be able to apply where my friend works which is great.
No experience needed woohoo
connections are so important indeed

Ask a friend to look over your resume to improve it
Volunteer to get some experience
Call your high school friends/family friends that have jobs and see if anyone is hiring at their companies
Apply to as many jobs you can
Don't get discouraged

My mom found her first job in the U.S. because she started a conversation with a random woman at a bus stop. So just ask everyone you know or come across.

Get into IT, everything you need is online and FREE. Build stuff and put it online. Post your résumé online (careerbuilder.com and dice.com are both great)

I'm a dreamer and was able to get a good job following the principles above.
