Hey Hooper, what is your stance on supplements (no Barry Bonds or Mark McGwire stuff or anything)? I've been taking flaxseed oil for the Omega 3s, and one of my friends uses flaxseed and fish oil for meal replacements. I know you shouldn't do that, but are there any tricks about when to take supplements and with what type of diets certain supplements work best with?

Well, I don't know how anyone can do meal replacements, fish oil doesn't fill you up lol. Anyways, flaxseed oil is good, but our bodies need EPA/DHA, which fish oil naturally has. Flaxseed oil has ALA which needs to be converted into EPA/DHA before it's any of use to us.
Since you are getting your omega-3's, I would suggest you start eating foods that contain omega-6. You can add tuna, walnuts, salmon, etc. Our bodies already produce omega-9 so there is no need to go out of our way to get that nutrient. So it's good that you're taking omega-3, but I would switch to fish oil. If you create an imbalance between your fatty acids then you can develop inflammatory conditions. So make sure you get your omega-6 fatty acids.
To answer your last question, your body is more absorbent when you're asleep. So taking your nutrients at night would be more convenient. Make sure if you're taking any multi-vitamins to take them at night with cottage cheese or peanut butter that contain casein protein (look at the ingredients).

NO2 is good, I'm on shock therapy right now, but not a lot of girls take this stuff...I don't think she will be interested in creatine, since most girls only exercise for toning, and not muscle growth. Glutamine in my opinion is a waste of money, a good diet and plenty of fiber should work fine.

i know you have to be careful with flaxseed oil because it can spoil quickly. I actually use whole flax seeds; grind them in a coffee grinder - put it in a container in the refrigerator and just sprinkle a tablespoon into my cereal.

thedream, just go back and read my posts. To gain weight you need to consume more calories than what your body burns. Try eating eggs, milk, meat (tuna, salmon, chicken, turkey). You might want to invest in something called 'whey protein,' buy the 5lb or the 10lb bags. Whey protein is the least expensive source of protein, so you might want to consider buying that. If you're planning on working out, then buy something called creatine, let me know so I can recommend you good companies. Our bodies already produce creatine, and it's also found a lot in red meat, and that's what the pros use to eat all the time, but know you can buy it without eating red meat. For your sleep, having a good sleep actually makes you gain weight, so sleep your 8 hours, but I wouldn't go pass 12 hours of sleep because your body needs to eat.

Everything lol...Only take your regular BCAA's like leucine, isoleucine, and valine. They will increase your protein absorption and will give also give you a little extra energy. I take those amino acids and I also take glutamine when training hard to repair muscle fast. glutamine has many health benefits too. They are a bit expensive though, especially the glutamine.
This is probably the best price for amino acids and will last you about 6-10 months...

Again, you probably won't need the glutamine. If you need more info on it, you can google it or ask me.
