I always knew, but it didn't hit hard until I was in high school. That's when I really started understanding what being illegal meant.

Same here, came here when I was 1 and my parents let me know very young about all the things I wouldnt be able to do. But it seems like its not until high school that sh*t really hits the fan. So many things you cant do...

I knew the whole time since our visas expired, but what affected me more was the fact that the whole time I was going through school, I didn't know if I was gonna stay or go, I really couldn't plan anything. I think that affected me more than anything. I would have had a better time toughing it out had I known we had intentions of staying for sure. Of course, after I graduated HS, I had to keep going... We submitted a case to USCIS and decided to stick it out till I got an answer... That was another type of psychological torture. lol

I always knew. I was 5 at the time. I'm surprised so many of you didn't know.

Half time! I always knew too. It got awkward when your friends started asking your questions. About everything they're doing and you're not.

My dad told me when I had just gotten to the US. Being 8 years old, it didn't hit me that hard being undocumented until I was a freshman in high school looking up colleges.
