I'm not sure if I mentioned this but I'm from NJ my Drivers License says

"Temporary Immigrant Status" in the top right corner.

Just informing those who are unaware and are from NJ.

Dreamer224: usually 3 days depends on where you're in the states.

AJUA, keep the dreams coming.

DACA changed my life.

Last year around this time, I was anxious about being discovered as an illegal at work. The work I was doing at the time didn't pay all that well and was absolutely soul-sucking.

I became really depressed after awhile, especially since it would have been my junior year of college. Instead of studying for exams and all that stuff, I was a long way from my friends and was working in a job I was really starting to hate, but needed to keep to make a living.

When DACA was announced, I saw a tiny glimmer of hope and my family and I started compiling all my info for the application. But I was so worried I would get denied. In fact, I expected I would be.

At work, my relationships with co-workers was becoming a lot more strained because I was lashing out at people. I was resentful that they had so much that they took for granted as USC; I felt as though some of them were judging me for leaving school, which was never my decision to begin with. None of them realized what I had gone through in the past few years, and I was really just about to explode at some point.

Then, while on a trip I had to make for work, I found out I got approved. The minute I got my EAD, I rushed to the SS office and applied for an SSN. A week or so later, when I got my SS card, I rushed to get my ID.

It's been about 6 months since I got approved, and I'm a much less anxious and depressed person because of that. I'm still a nut job, but much less so than I was this time last year.

Having a better job and significantly better pay also helped. :P

And so concludes my sob story :P.

My first one was working as a shelf stocking person in a department store. In february, I started working in 7/11. While having these jobs, I was constantly on the Job search. I finally landed a job at a reputable bank as a teller and this is only the beginning...

April 2 I passed my Road Test and I now possess a Drivers License and a form of identification. I met a lot of people in my shoes, those who support me and those who love me regardless of my status in this country.

Today, I'd just like to tell all of you that are waiting to be approved, that your life will completely flip upside down after DACA. The moment you recieve your State ID is when it will hit you and you will realize what you have accomplished. Yesteday, I went to see Spring Breakers (Meh, okay movie I guess) and I got asked for ID the first time since receiving it and I presented it, that moment was one of the best moments ever for me, instead of taking out a bulky pamphlet looking like book (passport) I simply took a card like every other person and went right through and sat through a movie that had breasts displayed every 30 seconds. Great experience but the story is meh.

Anyways, no big deal for other people but for US, the people recieving DACA, it is a major sense of acceptance in our community. One of the things people seek in life is the feeling of belonging somewhere. You may think of it or you may not but its in your concious, you just want to be normal like everyone else and belong. You want to drive. You want to go to the bank and withdraw money from your own account without having to show School IDs and veryfying 10 different things. You want to be able to go on long drives down to Florida. You want to buy your own car, you want to feel like you actually are going to be acknowledged.

President Obama and several other politicians changed the lives of millions and he continues the hard work to change the lives of millions more. God bless them.

To all that have experienced things after DACA, please feel free to share your own experience.

To all who are waiting, hang in there and keep DREAMING. We are DREAMERS for a reason. You will get there as long as you keep those dreams alive! Good luck to you all!

Sorry for any errors, posting from my phone.
Dude, you been in these forums for less than a year. You sound like you been here for years! But congrats on your achievements though.

I was offered a management position right after i graduate college this May. I hope my 2 year work permit does not get me denied once they find out. ):
