You can't be "racist" against gays because gays aren't a race but a classification of people based on sexual preference.

That aside, I also think that linking the two issues at present is foolish at best and selfish at worst. If you think about it, gay or not CIR will benefit you or your loved one. Why on earth would you jeopardize that by pushing for something so unrealistic with current political landscape?

Anyone who adds gay rights to CIR is trying to kill it and will 100% succeed at it

If immigration reform dies because gays want more rights, I'm going to be super angry.
Religious nuts? liberals like you are the hateful ones. Who what if we think homosexuality is a sin? that's us. let it be.

I'm Gay And I think they shouldn't try to force equal rights in CIR it would kill the bill. Gay rights is a whole different issues they do need to keep this out of CIR.

I don't even wanna start a debate on this thread, bottom line is gay rights and immigration are 2 issues. It would be a damn shame to put 11 million lives on hold or destroy them because gays want equal rights. I have gay friends, they're cool people just like anyone.. But gay rights does not belong in CIR. PERIOD. it will piss a lot of people off if it kills the bill or gets included (it won't be included because the people crafting the bill won't include it in there)

i like how we all agree on the same thing.

what are they trying to do?

"HEY LETS JUST PUT THIS INSIDE AND HOPEFULLY IT'LL PASS!!"

if they do push this further, the bill will not pass. end of story.

Im not against gays but they need to back off this time, if they push through is likely the bill will be defeated instantly, affecting 11 million people..... Not good

I agree with everyone. But damn it still strikes my conscience hard. They're a sub-group who will probably be left out of the bill. And like the article mentioned there *are* people who are directly impacted.

Easy to say its 2 separate issues but if you are in their shoes... if you are given a slim chance to be included in the bill wouldn't you? Who can be humanly selfless enough to voluntarily watch everyone else get legalized and just resigning in pursuing your own rights.

What sucks more is that its diff from the age limit fight. We'd stand behind the older dreamers left behind but this becomes a little divisive.

Immigration reform has a chance to pass without it.
Gay rights will eventually come, people aren't as close minded as before.
