I used to be involved with the dreamer movement a lot. As a consequence I had a lot of Dreamer friends in my facebook. Gaby Pacheco and others were posting statuses....happy statuses. I guess Durbin gave them a hint or something and I just took a chance to post that. I asked one of them what it was about and he was very secretive...suspicion rose. I took a lot of time researching any breaking news and couldn't find anything. Until about 9 AM that morning, the news were released.

I remember this day... Truly the day that changed my life so much for the better, I remember planning on wanting to fly down south on June 5th and spoke to my parents and uncle and they all didn't approve because of my undocumented situation, they were worried I'd encounter immigration agents and my uncle told me don't go with your fiends if they get stopped they'll be fine but if you do, your life will change for the worse.. Just have patience, your day will come I promise

June 15th comes around I'm sleeping in late, my mom bangs on my door telling me to turn on the news because Obama was speaking about immigration I told her to leave me alone, they always talk about it like they're gonna do something but never do. Much to my surprise this time was different. I was stil a little skeptical about what we would be able to do with Obama executive order but it has truly been the best news I have ever gotten in my life.

God bless Barack Obama huh? Only president who took some action on our behalf!

I remember that too. I really thought it's just another prank. I didn't even bother to follow up on that next day until I got text from my cousin. What an amazing day that was. And then there was that June 15 requirement lol. I quickly went on amazon and made a purchase just to be on safe side.

Was just about to make this thread to see what type of progress everyone made in the first year (Not really full year because it took a while for it to be implemented and approval but still). First of all, Thanks to Erik for breaking the news to us in the early hours of June 15th. It was a Friday I believe. My progress thus far...Got approved for EAD. Got my DL after failing road test once. Bought a NISSAN MAXIMA 04..BEAST car. Just recently got a job at a CPA firm. Not a bad start for the first year. I sincerely HOPE all of you did well and will continue to progress as I am! Let's bump this thread up in a years time...Would love to know how everyone is doing. GL.

Every time something about immigration comes out on TV, my mom is like that, and I have to say "Nothing has been approved, more than likely nothing will". Again, some don't remember that an immigration reform has been going on (as far as I remember) since 2001, so for us that are old enough to remember, we've been hearing news of our status changing for the past decade or so.

Even though (like I said above) I haven't been approved, DACA has given me a little bit of fresh air, yet a new look on things. Besides traveling, I don't think my life can change. I'll still be working, I'll still be going to school, but that's it. Maybe I'll get into debt (like many here are so desperate to go into), maybe not, who knows. But a big difference it won't make, since I won't be able to travel to my home country to visit my family...so, down to wait for CIR to pass!

I applied August 15th, 2012 and received my Deferred Action and EAD on October 5th (my birthday) .

With DACA my life has changed tremendously.

I was able to apply to a Nursing program at my College and was accepted. I will be beginning Nursing School in September and after 3 years, I will hopefully have my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Without DACA, I would not be able to completely my clinical rotations which required work authorization in the United States.

After about 2 weeks of receiving my EAD, I got my Social Security Number and immediately began looking for a job. After filling out applications to anywhere I could think for an entire day, I received 1 call back from a retail company for an interview. After the interview, about 2 hours later, I received a call back from saying I received the job.
Fast forward 8 months to today: Last week I was promoted and will begin working in my new position next month.

I can drive a car with peace of mind. I can show a Legal US Identification when needed. I have a Social Security Number. I have 2 Credit Cards. I have a stable, easy job. I go to College full time. I am studying to become what I've strived for since graduating High School.

DACA has changed my life in many more ways than I can think of and there's no way to show how grateful I am that we were to be given this opportunity.
