Not unless he'd otherwise be denied because he supported the cartel or some anti-cartel guerrilla group.

If he (Dreamer) did not have any connection to the cartel (e.g helping them or being a part of them) and the only one involved was his father. Then he should be able to get asylum with the help of immigration lawyers.

From what I hear is that his father did some things to try to oust a cartel group (assuming it was with help from another cartel group) and his family was threatened because his father did what he did. And assuming the person didn't have anything to do with the cartels then why wouldn't he not get asylum?

His case would be good unless he was somewhat involved. But then again he could prove it was out of necessity of safety and the well being of his family. I really don't see why it would be any trouble if it had good intentions. I don't know. That's my opinion.

It sounds like a good asylum case, the kind of case that a competent immigration attorney specializing in asylum can successfully push through.
