You don't think DACA did the same thing ? it gave fuel to alot of republicans and to this are still trying to repel it.

I think even a lot of Republicans could live with DACA since the story line was "Kids who were BROUGHT here through no fault of their own and have spent most of their lives here. There were also several good spokespeople for the cause with the 4.0 GPA's and such so while Republicans may have not been thrilled about it, they knew it was more or less a losing battle to fight it too hard.

With the New Kids on the Block (the only boy band that mattered IMHO), many feel that there is a certain arrogance to them coming here strictly because they were told there would be a free lunch and it only plays to the belief that the borders are so not secure, that even some kids can get through all at once.

My personal belief is that I have sympathy for them, but I am done with being the bridesmaid of immigration reform where it seems everybody else gets theirs, but as soon as it gets to me, I'm told I'm being greedy. Let those kids wait 29 years like me and then give them DACA. Hell, cut it in half. I don't think those kids deserve to get papers before I do. I know I'm biased but then that's life and we all have out own needs to.

Excuse my ignorance, but should we be seriously concerned about this?

Nah. Senate will dump it. Also the president isn't going to sign a thing in law that directly contradicts what he did.

See, I would think with your firsthand experience with this you'd be more compassionate towards these kids. Why should they wait 29 years? Just because you did as well? thats thinking backwards. "Why should blacks be free?" said a newly freed ex slave , "African people coming here should be slaves for 29 years JUST like me before we give them anything"

You waited for 29 years on your own man, and we have talked about this plenty of times so I am not going to go there since you have your own personal reasons why you waited that long and of course like the always the government had something to do with that.

I don't know what should be done about these kids, I really don't but what I do know is this being used against our "cause" (an immigration reform, an executive order?) is out of the question, not by BIG margins like thanks to this, all talks for it are long gone, but as I keep saying, the republicans will always find something. Arent they already trying to secured a bill that would give Israel more money? And they were even considering taking care of that before entering any immigration talk.. It sucks to say it but quite honestly we wont be hearing any immigration talk again until the next election. Not as much as 2013... man we all thought 2013 would be. I mean how couldn't it had been? House had their version, Senate their own? The white house their own idea as well?

At the end of the day, it's 60,000 kids. Just because the border patrol/INS is having trouble digesting such workloads (surprise surprise, especially for those of us who were initially legal and then pushed into illegal status because of INS inefficiencies/fuckups) doesn't mean the rest of the country's infrastructure will. They should be processed, return the ones who are old enough and want to go back, locate relatives in the US that they can stay with, and take care of the rest as ward of state/etc.

By turning on these kids because they're the "flavor of the month" and the fickle American public opinion doesn't like it for a month or two (Public attention already turned from these kids to Ukraine, Israel, and now Boehner suing Obama), we are no better than the Michelle Malkins of this country.

In other words, just because the conservatives are dumb enough (or willfully ignorant enough) to not understand that a recent surge in gang violence to an astonishing degree in many Central American countries is the driving force behind these waves of children, not DACA that came into effect 2 fucking years ago., doesn't mean we should turn on these kids who actually went through a LOT worse than what most of us experienced.

If I had to wait 29 years, I don't think it's fair that these kids can get their before me. That's the point. That's why I am not being hypocritical. Now if I had my green card and had made a whole life here with it and 20 years from now there were illegals asking for some legal relief, it would be hypocritical of me to tell them to go back, but as it stands, I like myself more than these kids.

+1 they don't deserve anything. I'm willing to serve in the military and EARN my status, but that seems to be out of the question as well. Gotta take care of these kids that don't even understand our way and like you said; just want a free lunch. Their parents are so irresponsible. Why have kids if you can't even feed them. No one here seems to care about Gaza, how many people... KIDS have been murdered, but they don't deserve help because they're not from South America.

There is a really major difference. Our parents brought us knowing we wouldn't get "papers." These Central Americans are sent with the idea that they will get "papers." If they give temporary status to these kids, it should be for every kid, including Mexicans(drug wars), Palestinians(war crisis) etc.
