You have 2 options.
1. You plead guilty by mail and pay the fine. Be sure to keep all copies of payment receipt and documentations.
2. You hire an attorney who almost always gets the ticket thrown out, but of course that will come at a cost. Check online for attorneys and get quotes for the fees.
If you go in this direction, be sure to collect all documentation if the ticket is thrown out, fees, fine receipts etc.
Good luck.

$140? Lucky you, I paid $500 for the actual citation + a traffic school fee of $55 + the actual traffic school class cost of $30. I live in California, and I got the ticket in Orange County.

Anyway, screw those cameras. I think I heard something on NPR about those cameras being unconstitutional because of the provision in the constitution that states we have the right to face our accuser. Many people are trying to rid of those.

Your best and easiest bet is to pay the fine and go to traffic school if it applies. If you try to plead not guilty, you'll go through more of a headache attending court dates for no better outcome.

Honestly, when I got my ticket I was proud. Never in my life prior to DACA would I even be able to get a ticket LOL. I felt normal. Like all my other friends who get speeding tickets.

i call up some attorney who told me just to pay it since it doesn't effect my driving record.

and oh man, that's insane! $500? I've never heard of that. and i do drive more careful now i guess, whenever it turns yellow, i stop for it. i was mostly concerned about pleading guilty for it and may have it effect DACA, so i was gonna at least try to fight it and have it NOT effect anything. but since a lot of people tell me on this site that it won't, I'm just gonna pay for it.

The $500 one is very likely when an actual cop stopped you. That one WILL go on your record if you just pay it so it's best to take defensive driving which still costs money for the class, court fee, and in some places to get your driving record from the state to show that you haven't taken DD already that year (you're only allowed to do that once per year). That will end up costing you $200 easily and you have to run around and waste 3 days of your life. If it wasn't your car, you'd need to show proof of insurance too which means you have to get non-owner's insurance so yeah...$140 is not bad.

My red light ticket was also through a camera too. That's the price out here in California I guess.

That's literally highway robbery.

citation = ticket, interchangeable unless you know something about ticket semantics that i don't.

i live in california, i don't know how your point system is there. but yes, here in california, we get 1 point for every traffic ticket/citation we get, including red light tickets. (parking tickets don't count) traffic school is an option for ppl who don't want the point on their license. i did traffic school to prevent the point from affecting my license and insurance cost.

anyways, relax. your daca won't be affected.

Both are citations but the difference is that if a cop stops you, it's considered a moving violation and a criminal act (Class C Misdemeanor) and if a camera gets you, it's a civil violation like a parking ticket. At least in Texas.
