A person who took a few community college classes in Arabic cannot speak Arabic at the level required for MAVNI.

Dont you have to be a native speaker of the language they're accepting? I remember reading somewhere that said you had to be familiar with the culture and customs of the people.

You must be a native speaker of the language--or good enough to score a 2 or higher on the Defense Language Institute's Oral Proficiency Interview. Most people can't score that high on a language unless they are native speakers, or have benefitted from a lengthy immersion program.

So with the new parole in place since my wife is USC does that mean I join the military?

If you came into the U.S. illegally (EWI) then you could qualify with parole in place as a way to better facilitate your placement in the military under MAVNI.

It doesn't. Citizens and LPRs are the only ones that can join the military. Well.. Then again, it could be useful for those EWI who have an application ready or pending with USCIS. Enlisting them can allow them to get green cards

Everyone, you need to read the memo. That DHS memo does not allow anyone to enlist. The memo merely lets military family members get something called "parole in place." The memo does not let the family members enlist. People who have "parole in place" are not eligible to enlist. Once the family members have green cards, the family members can try to enlist. People with "parole in place" are not eligible for enlistment, and they are not eligible for the MAVNI program.

DHS has no authority to authorize anyone to enlist. Only DOD can authorize people to enlist.

As of today, the only people who can enlist, per 10 United States Code 504(b), are people who are US citizens; US nationals; green card holders; citizens of Palau. Micronesia, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands; and MAVNIs. A person with "parole in place" is not any of those. MAVNI does not allow people with "parole in place" to enlist.
