Wait, there is no check point along I-94 anywhere in Michigan.

I literally just drove from Chicago to Detroit and I do it every two weeks.

Is it past Detroit?

No checkpoints, but if you pass Detroit and drive up to Port Huron, that section of I-94, you will always see a CBP SUV in the same spot everyday.

As far as checkpoints goes, I have live in Michigan for almost 15 years, never have I encountered one.

Shit you scared the shit out of me.

Yeah, I mean even when you go to downtown detroit there are a ton of CPB trucks by the bridge and the tunnel.

As long as they do not put a checkpoint between Jackson and Kalamazoo I am happy.

We still have DACA, so I think we are safe for now. I'm going to start carrying my EAD from now on.

I used to drive from Kalamazoo to Detroit every weekend, no checkpoints at all.

I would not yet.

I do not think it is safe. Someone mentioned.. "what if you lose it? Good luck getting it replaced under Trump".

Keep it safe at home.

I would take a photocopy in your wallet along with your State ID.

I would say proceed with caution if the flight is to any place outside the contiguous states or close to the border. There is no present information TSA rules have changed.

It really sucks that we booked this trip prepaid (before the elections)..

I was planning on filing a joint motion to re-open and close my case next month after the trip.

Anyone know if a joint motion to re-open is more difficult than a i-212? Because if it is, I might as well risk it..

A part of me feels like its okay because isn't that the point of Deferred action? To protect us from deportation?
But then again, these new orders are affecting green card holders..

I do agree that it's best not to travel with a final order until it's clear that DACA recipients are still safe. I'm gonna give this some thought over the next few days.. The only reason I feel a sense of assurance is because I have potential pathways.

Look, ICE and Border Patrol agents aren't here to protect us. They're there to protect USCs from us. Now with trump they will feel more empowered to go after us. What's to stop them and give us hell? Sure they will eventually be ordered released us but I can see dreamers being stopped
