My question is, is it possible to provide amnesty to 800,000 thousand people?

I do not think it was ever settled when Obama left.

Say Trump really has the heart he claims (highly unlikely), I was wondering if he could go rogue...

If not amnesty, is there any way he can go rogue through any other mechanism. I know Ianus mentioned something about deferred action through C14. I am not sure what it is or what are the ramifications but it is worth discussing.

I am just tired of all the bullshit articles lately.
No, there is nothing in law that allows for status to be just handed out. Deferred Action for example comes from regulations and is acknowledged in a few places (e.g. in the REAL ID Act), and a lot of discretionary reliefs still have some requirements for you to qualify, so you can't for example hand T-visas to people who were not victims of human trafficking.

Also, there is really only one kind of deferred action. Whether your EAD reads C14 (general Deferred Action), C33 (DACA), or C31 (VAWA Deferred Action), they are all authorized under section (c)(14) of the employment authorization regulations.

Best that could happen would be some stealth provision updating the registry date or extending 245(i). Still, republicans won't and democrats are too straight to try underhanded tactics.
