Normally with things like that, I take the easy way out by saying "My stepdad/brother/aunt is Indian/black/gay/whatever group they're hating on" because normally that makes them feel more embarrassed than "that's racist/homophobic/xenophobic", and those words just make them get all self-righteous and "omg yerrr sooo PC". But it's harder to when talking about being here illegally, because if you fob it off on someone you know, they might just report their ass...

I don't know. Take it out on his ancestors or something.
