I thought it would be quick for me as well. It was also my 2nd renewal. It took almost 5 months for me to get approved.

That is a long time. I'm hoping I can hear something by the end of the month. My thing hasn't even been updated.

How can you email your congressman, and what exactly are they able to do?

Look up their contact information through their website - they often have a section for help with federal agency/immigration. You will need to give your info/explain the situation - some you can fill out a form online, others you need to call to speak with someone who deals with immigration matters. You'll also have to sign a privacy release form. Once they have the info they need, they will contact USCIS on your behalf to see if there's updates on your application. There's no guarantee it will speed up the process, but it does flag your application to be looked at and there's no harm in it.
