Anyways, I don't think it's really fair to relatives of anyone else to not be able to sponsor. Moreover what is fucked up with the middle approach (DACAers can't sponsor) in that a parent would not be able to be sponsored by ANY of their children. So if you have a USC sibling and you take the DACA deal your parents are hereby screwed.

That's a US Citizen's right. Which you are not. And quite frankly, have no right to comment. A US Citizen's right comes before that of an undocumented immigrant bud. Not everything revolves around Dreamers.

I don't think lil marco's ask is unreasonable. US is moving towards merit based immigration anyway. chain migration is bound to go sooner than later.

You all do understand that in essence this is the best we can hope to get right?

Who is in power? On what platform did he run?

Democrats failed miserably to do anything about immigration when they had the chance. They failed miserably to convince enough people that their policies would benefit the American people in the 2016 election, and now they, and us, are paying the price

I'm not surprised, and I hope Dems take this deal. Democrats are in a position to use their leverage to mitigate harm, not in a position to use leverage to get what they want.

Honestly idk why they don't try to just renew 245(i) as a part of some deal. You'd make it a permanent part of the immigration system and aside backlogs people would start getting legal, which they can't due to the catch-22:

1. EWI -> Can't adjust at all
2. Overstay -> Can't adjust unless you're an IR

Leave for consular -> 10 year ban -> Need for a waiver -> Need for a qualifying relative who'd suffer extreme hardship (Parent or spouse that's a USC or LPR).

You don't need an amnesty, you just need a fucking safety vent. People will come, one way or another, and when they realize that they fucked up they'll have a way to find a sponsor and wait out the backlog before being granted adjustment.
