They can’t just hide evidence though. Anything planned to be used in court has to be given to the other side. If anything, it seems like Hanen is waiting for the Supremes to take action before him taking action himself?

It's up to Congress now. Amirite?

This is another move in which it seems like they really want Congress to take care of it, not the courts. At the same time, Trump wants the Courts to kill it so he doesn't take the blame. It's ultimately up to Congress to deal with this issue. I hope Trump / Kushner (not Miller) and Congress can come up with something.
I remember bringing up that point about him choosing not to put the preliminary injunction in place prior being a good sign and I was staying optimistic about it. Good to see, I guess, it's just that I don't really understand the reasons why other than our speculation.

I just doubt that anything substantial could happen without urgency - it's the only way congress passes much of anything now. I hope they pass something too.

But the weird thing to me is the timing of all of this. Voter memories are notoriously short. Hanen is clearly Republican friendly, and so is the SC. Why keep on pushing it back? They both could have gotten this issue out of the way last year. At this rate, DACA might still be alive right before the election. If it goes away then, that can only hurt their party. I know that the courts aren't meant to be biased, but maybe their calculus is that if they push it back to right before the election, the Republicans have more reason to compromise? Idk, all of this just makes no sense to me from the perspective of the Republicans.

Hell, wouldn't the courts just issuing another wind-down period for DACA make more sense too? Paxton said that would be okay for them.

Not that I want DACA to go away - I'll take DACA forever lol

Supreme court is waiting on congress, Hanen is waiting on supreme court and congress is waiting till 2020. To me it seems like some big money players have a role in this.
Democrats do not seemed worried at all which worries me because of leverage. Right now democrats have leverage on Asylum but it seems they are going to cave on Asylum (4.6 Billion). I think SCOTUS will take the case OCT 3 and we would get a ruling in June of next year which is bad for us. Democrats will have no leverage.

22/ Moreover, I'm not sure how this decision affects the DACA case. I had expected a GVR, based on the census case, in light of the fact that the court probed the Director's intent. Now, such a GVR would not work.

Prediction: tomorrow, the DACA cases will be sent back to the agency for reconsideration in light of the Census case, on the ground that the administration’s rationale for ending DACA arguably doesn’t match the facts of what it did. So DACA will live on, briefly.

Dems won't have any leverage, but Repubs would be forced to come to the negotiating table too - they know that public opinion favors us heavily, and if they don't do anything for us right before the election, that cannot be good for Trump, especially in swing states like FL. This is especially true because, as I mentioned earlier, voters have short attention spans and the closer this is to the election, the more likely their vote will be based off of this issue.

25/ One other wrinkle in the DACA matter. Judge Hanen was scheduled to hear oral argument in July. That hearing was pushed forward till October. #SCOTUS may go the entirety of Trump's first term in office w/out hearing DACA challenge.
