that's great! did you just have a passport with no visas at all? Did they ask any questions or look elsewhere in the passport?

No visa. They looked at the passport for like 3 seconds and that was it. I got a very throughout screening, though.

You should be fine. Everyone does it. Most of the TSA agents don't even know how a VISA looks like.

Congrats, fellow non-DACA. Remember the cutoff date is October so enjoy your travels. I got to travel a few months back for what is likely the last time for a long time since I won't have a Real-ID either so it was pretty bitter sweet. Things went pretty smoothly for me too though I have a bad habit of annoying TSA agents by giving them the boarding pass for the 2nd leg of my trip and them giving me a dirty look. The people checking bags and shoes and such have been pretty nice and are just everyday working people doing their best. I hold nothing against them.

I have a feeling they're just enjoying this time too before the ID rules change because that will be quite the shit show. The airlines are losing their shirts right now with the Corona virus limiting travel plans but I really don't think they have thought about how much business they'll lose once REAL-ID is required. There are 11 million undocumented and even if a million of them are traveling now and stop traveling, that will not be chump change. Add to that Americans who also don't have REAL-ID. They're out there. I'm sure they'll blame everything but REAL-ID.

If you have a passport you don’t need a real ID. That’s if you are using your license I believe.

BTW I just passed TSA again at JKF airport. I’m on my way home to Sarasota now

No no no no no....You've misheard. That's not how it is. The whole point of Real-ID is to prove legal presence. After October, foreign passports will be required to have a valid visa stamp and an I-98 form which shows you legally entered the country. That's on the DHS website which I linked to before but don't want to keep linking to. You're free to google it yourself.

For Americans of course, their passport is a proof of citizenship.

You need a foreign passport with a valid visa if you want to get the Real-ID as a FAS(Freely associated sates) citizen. DHS does not mention anything about about domestic travel with a valid visa.

Q: What identity and lawful status documents will FAS citizens need to present in order to obtain a REAL ID compliant license?

DHS recently designated an unexpired foreign passport with an approved I-94, with a valid visa no longer required, documenting the applicant’s most recent admission to the United States under a Compact, as acceptable documents FAS citizens may present to establish identity in order to obtain a REAL ID license or identification card. FAS citizens also may present one of the other identity documents listed in the regulations, including an unexpired passport, with a valid, unexpired visa (if applicable), and approved I-94, an unexpired employment authorization document, or a previously issued REAL ID compliant driver’s license or identification card (in which case, a valid passport and I-94 is acceptable evidence of lawful status). In all cases, the documentation presented for proof of identity and lawful status must be verified through Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE).
